GPPOL 2013 Champion

HO Jewels has proven to be the best team in the GPPOL basketball league 2013 by beating a very determined MBL Eastern Rockers by 52-40 in the grand finals over the weekend.

And according to the team and spectators, it was the best game of the league.

Jewels had led the competitions tally all throughout the league in the round 1 to round 2 and concluded their supremacy by winning the grand final.

The first two quarters saw both teams came out neck-to-neck by only 1 point difference.

Rockers regrouped and strengthen their defense and putting in more shots extending the margin to take lead with 36 - 31 at the end of the third quarter.

But at the final quarter, HO Jewels quickly bounced back making sure their ‘Jewels’ must be protected while Clay, Barry and Floyd’s excellent shots and fast breaks flew the team away only to be stopped by the final whistle.

Jewel’s officials said they would like to dedicate their win to their families at GPPOL for their huge support and to one of their outstanding players, a student, Floyd Henry Tuimaka in his final exams.

Meanwhile Western Blazers settled on the third place and Mill Spurs settles on fourth place.

The committee would also like to thank me (NBDO) Moses Kivo jnr for organising HBA Referees, Fa’amoana and Tome to help officiating the sem finals and grand final.

Their presentation will be this Sunday and we were also invited to attend it.
