THE MULTIPURPOSE Hall came to live yesterday (Sunday) as the lads from Kuks Town turned Multipurpose Hall into a mini Kuks town defeating Crusaders 45-32 in the men’s B division grand final.

Kuks Town started the match determined and wasted no time in establishing a three point lead at the end of the first quarter with painter, soccer star and now basketball champ Brian Feni collecting both two and three point baskets for Kuks Town as they rounded in 12 points while Crusaders managed to collect only nine points at the end of the first quarter.

That three point advantage was however snatched in the second quarter from Kuks Town as Crusaders dug deep into their play book to fight Kuks Town after trailing in the first quarter.

King George six school boy Tristein Zutu was superb for Crusaders easily driving through the Kuks defense on several occasions to score under the hoop before firing a couple of three pointers to see his team steal the quarter lead from Kuks Town and lead 19-16 in the second quarter.

Trailing by three, Kuks Town needed the support of their fans to push them. The score line remained 19-16 for a brief moment before the flood gates opened for Kuks Town in the third quater.

Brian Feni was again superb for his team leading by example in both attacking and defending for his team.

Backed by their vocal supporters Kuks Town was playing confidently rallying in 16 points with Western United striker Gagame Feni even shooting a three pointer basket of his own displaying some of his football finishing instinct with his hands.

The swift attack and defending Kuks Town in the third quarter saw them regain the quarter lead from Crusaders who were struggling to find their rhythm as they only managed to find five points in that quarter. The third quarter score read 35-24 to Kuks Town.

In the final quarter Kuks town picked up from where they left. They managed to add another eight points to their score before Crusaders decided to call a time out to give their players a breather with two minutes 29 seconds left to play.

The time out seemed to switch the momentum of the game their way as they finally managed to find the evasive points and the gap in the tight Kuks defense.

Crusaders managed to score ten points their highest in the game but despite that over haul of points they were just not good enough to cause an upset to the Kuks Town populace that turned up yesterday to witness their team’s success as they finished the match with 45-32 in the final quarter.

Meanwhile SOSA women’s team claimed the first position in the Women’s B division grand final defeating Andel women’s basketball 44-33 yesterday to cap off an eventful year for the club after also winning the netball league.
