PINOY SLASHERS TAKE 3X3 Series 2

Marist 3x3 Basketball Team were beaten 8 – 5 by Pinoy Slashers in the Grand Final during game 2 on Whit – Monday at Multi – Purpose Hall.

Leading up to the Grand Final, Pinoy Slashers had to struggle through a very tough and determined Crusaders 3x3 Basketball Team. At end of the regulation time they both sat at 8 – 8 which forced the game to a “sudden death” to break the tie. The “sudden – death” means 1st team to score 2 points wins the game. Crusaders scored first but only to be denied their Grand Final hopes when Pinoys guard dropped a 2 pointer to seal their Grand Final placing. While on the other end of the semi – final, saw Marist taking a easy game beating Mid – West 3x3 Basketball Team     21 – 10 to book their Grand Final place.

Last time Marist and Pinoys Slashers met, was in Game 1, also in the Grand Final during the Easter Break that was played at Woodford International School. In game 1 Marist was just too good in their offense, with their sharp shooter Waige on spot.

The Game 3 is planned for Queen’s Birthday, 10th of June 2016 at Multi Purpose Hall again.

Some of the other events that took place during the 3x3 Basketball Series is the 3 – Point Shoot out which also saw Marist’s Allen beating Waige 6 – 5 in the Shoot – out. Waige seem under a lot of stress during the shoot out trying to maintain his status as the “3 Point King” in Honiara. Allen, Waige’s teammate, who plays center for Marist, sunk all 6 balls with ease. He walked away with a cash prize of 500 – 00.

Registrations are now open for game 3 of the 2016 3x3 Basketball Series. This is the final leg of the series. This is where it will get more interesting. After game 3, we will crown our 3x3 Basketball kings of 2016. Only 12 spots available and priority is given to 12 teams that participated in previous legs of the series. Registration will close on the 31st of June 2016. After that if there is still space, we will open up for interested new teams on a “1st Come 1st Serve basis”

The organizers stressed “the good thing about this 3x3 Basketball event is all our players are created a profile where their statistics and performance is recorded and put into the 3x3 planet website to create a ranking system for our basketball players” He went on to add “our local basketball players are ranked against all the players around the 3x3 Basketball globe. Being new to this event, will take some time to build their stats but the good thing is they will be noticed through their international ranking.”

The reason why registration needs to be submitted in good time is, all the teams data will have to be entered into the system online, to begin the events statistics and process. The tournament maker then generates all the fixtures and timings of the games based on the data input. Data will include players stats, teams stats etc. The event make generates the teams seeding into pools based on team’s stats. Then we ready to go. You have access to all the teams info on www.3x3planet.com
