Joe Rika Attends Advanced Coaching and Development Seminar
Joe Rika has taken some time out of his new club commitments with Western Districts to attend the EAP's Advanced Coaching and Development Seminar in New Zealand.
A lot has been covered by the participants in the first 4 days. This has been a combination of theory and practical, about 75% practical so the coaches have a better understanding of skills and activities. The 9 participants have been absolutely fantastic, they have not only demonstrated a willingness to learn but they have also upheld our region with respect.
All participants will now be required to run at least 1 level 1 coaching course with a minimum of 12 participants and a coaching workshop over the next 12 months. All 9 attendees will be giving level 1 ICC EAP presenters certificates (Posted out in the next few weeks) and they are able to accredit coaches to level 1 coaching standard.
These presenters are;
Davis Teinaki - Cook Islands
Peter Moide & Eddie Tamarua - PNG
Jo Rika - Fiji
Patrick Haines - Vanuatu
Somin Hawoe, Yeri & Ben Leaver (At CI cost) - Cricket Indonesia
Sione - Tonga
Not only have they received some of the best professional development and coach education they have also received many resources thanks to New Zealand Cricket (NZC) as well as they have all received at least 2 shirts courtesy of NZC and a ICC EAP shirt and cap. They will also have a memory stick with all presentations and the Level 1 ICC EAP presenters guide.
Thanks must go firstly to NZC and in particular Mark Lane, Hamish Barton and Justine Messerer, this was not possible with out all the contribution from these individuals. To the other presenters Garfield Charles and Gary Stead many thanks for your contribution and time.
We should also thank the High Performance Managers, including Fiji's Steve Jenkin, that stayed after the ir HPM Seminar for Mondays session to help and mentor these coaches.
