It will be a David vs Goliath battle in today’s Suva Rugby Union’s Koroturaga Trophy final between National Fire Authority and Savura at TFL National Stadium at 5.30pm.
And it will be history in the making for Fire team as they play in the first major final in 15s.
Fire manager Qionilau Moceitai said: “playing in the SRU Koroturaga cup final is a great achievement for National Fire Authority.
“The Fire team was formed this year in January and we are proud of our achievement.
“We are not taking Savura lightly and our goal is to win the final for the first time,” Moceitai said. “We have selected a good side with the mixture of young and senior players.
“We have come a long way from playing in the sevens code to 15s and we would like to attribute our success to the firefighters, staff, volunteers and the players for their support," Moceitai said.
“The competition has further enhanced the fitness level of the firefighters. The Fire team in the past produced many national reps with the likes of Paula Maisiri who plays in New Zealand and Waisea Mateiwai, a former national sevens and fifteens rep.
