Samoan Magic

FULL ON ,FULL FORWARD

When asked about the serious likelyhood of a Samoan boy ever playing afl football, current Development officer Michael Roberts could not help but hold a wry smile as he informed the doubtfull and rugby loving journo that it has already been achieved by one young man, twice.

The sydney journalist (in all his manners )quickly recovered to brush it off and say "but there is no teams here and no way to play the game", "nobody born in samoa can play for samoa" only to be informed of the National Samoan Bulldogs team and its history.

Even more surprised was the journalist when informed that Mr Roberts had been involved as friends and in coaching the last Samoan captain (Fia Tootoo) and AFL Recruit Aaron edwards ( as young footballers in melbourne )and truely believed more Samoans will one day make the top grade.

Funnily enough after this convincing the journalist admitted to not ever seeing a game or understanding the rules of the game. After a quick lesson and video review the journo was having a sports epiphany. "i finally get it", thats great "now it all makes sense,i always though everyone was off side".

'its from little things that big things grow'.
