Tsunami Relief

The result was much of Samoa quickly evacuated to higher ground.  Many people in the surrounding villages of Faleata & Tuana'imato also evacuated to the Samoa Aquatic Centre and slept there for the next 2 nights.  The staff of the SSFA immediately mobilised and after taking a collection gave a $2,000.00 donation to a local relief organisation along with much needed bedding.  The New Zealand Air Force is now based at the Softball Centre and a temporary petrol pump has now been set up for their use.  This pump is for the refuelling of all emergency vehicles only for the duration of the relief effort.

On behalf of our Minister, the Honourable Faumuina Tiatia Liuga, Minister for Natural Resources & Environment, our Board of Directors and the staff of the Samoia Sports Facilities Authority, we would like to offer our sincere condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in this tradgedy.   We also feel the loss.  To those grieving families, may God's blessings bring comfort to you and your families at this time.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
