Samoa Secures 2010 Oceania Squash Masters

President of the Oceania Squash Federation (OSF), Mr. Col. Clapper, has confirmed that Samoa will host the 2010 Oceania Squash Masters Championships, much to the delight of the Samoa Sports Facilities Corporate Services Division headed by ACEO, Ms. Lufilufi Rasmussen.

The Officers of the OSF have confirmed their support for the 2010 Oceania Masters Championships to be held in Apia , Samoa and hosted by SSFA who will be working in partnership with the Samoa Squash Rackets Association.

Over the coming months we will maintain communication on establishing protocols and details for the Championships.  Staging the Championships in Samoa is consistent with the OSF policy of promoting events in developing countries and assisting in their economic development.

This year the Oceania Masters was held in Norfolk Island with approximately 70 players taking part in the various age divisions, although Norfolk Island has only two courts and was heavily impacted by the World Masters Squash Championships which were held in Christchurch, New Zealand attracting over 790 participants.

The 2009 Oceania Masters will take place in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand and is expected to attract large numbers of participants.

We look forward to working closely with the OSF for the promotion and conduct of the 2010 Oceania Masters, and will be making a presentation to the Oceania Squash Federation in Rarotonga during the 2009 Pacific Mini Games.
