Steve Jackson U/11 Schoolboy Challenge

Former State of Origin and Canberra Raiders Great Steve Jackson has now another feather in his cap with the naming of a trophy in his honour. The Steve Jackson U/11 Schoolboy Challenge was played on the last day of term in Septmember 2010. With  24 teams entering this challenge, it proved to be a postive step forward for Rugby League in Mackay. Steve has given a lot back to the game that has helped him become one of the greats of the game. Steve has coached Magpies Seniors as well as taking the helm of the Mackay U/17 Foley shield, and A Grade Foley shield sides for the last couple of years.

The Steve Jackson U/11 Schoolboy Challenge will become a permanent fixture on the rugby league calendar in the Mackay area for years to come.

In 2010 the finalists were St Annes and Proserpine with Proserpine taking out a hard fought final.

Many thanks to the MSHS students for doing a great job of refereeing on the day.
