2012 SGB Rd 5 Bulldogs v Western Australia (Report)

Bulldogs OLD

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs SG Ball team have made it three wins on the trot defeating the Western Australia Reds 28-20 in Round 5 action at the Belmore Sports Ground.

After conceding an early try to trail 6-0 the Bulldogs soon gained all the momentum scoring five unanswered tries to Tifa Iuta, Alan Nuilesa, Michael Morgan, Tuuta Langi and Costner Lemafa to lead 24-6 nearing half-time. A try on the stroke of half-time got the Reds back into the clash despite trailing by 14 points.

Tuuta Langi scored his second try to push the Bulldogs clear, but two quick tries by Western Australia got them right back into the match. A crucial missed goal from outwide by the Reds gave the Bulldogs an eight point cushion and the momentum of the Reds comeback had been thwarted.

Canterbury's forwards made easy yards up the middle, but a lack of concentration in the second half allowed the Reds to get back into the match.

Round 6 action is again at Belmore Sports Ground with the Bulldogs SG Ball side taking on Melbourne Storm with kick off at 1.00pm. The Harold Matthews clash before will see Canterbury do battle against SWSAS commencing at 11.30am. The 3rd round of the NSW Cup competition sees Canterbury play host to North Sydney Bears following the SG Ball clash at 3.00pm.
