2012 HM Rd 7 Bulldogs v St George (Report)

Bulldogs OLD

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Harold Matthews season is back on track with an impressive 22-18 upset victory against St George Dragons at Kogarah Jubilee Oval on Sunday 25th March 2012.

The Bulldogs had to overcome a lop-sided penalty count, an early try conceded and two fair tries disallowed in the first half to trail 6-0 until the final 10 seconds before the break with a smart try from Patrick Kopu to level up the scores.

An excellent 15 minute burst after half-time with the Bulldogs scoring three excellent team tries through Tom McCallum, Willie Soloa and Nifo Seve saw the visitors push out to a 22-6 lead.

The final ten minutes seemed to take an age as the Dragons rediscovered their best form and took advantage of some elementry Bulldogs mistakes to set up a thrilling final two minutes.

The Bulldogs defence held firm as they ended a poor run of recent form.

Best for the Bulldogs included winger Marcelo Montoya, centre Hakaraia Toi Toi, second-rower Avia Minute, lock Jordan Lemalu and interchange hooker Patrick Kopu.

The Bulldogs next match will be against the North Sydney Bears at TG Milner Reserve on Sunday 1st April 2012 with kick off at 12pm.
