Laharum too good for Taylors Lake

AN improved performance from Taylors Lake was still no match for the might of Laharum in their second meeting of the season.
The Mountain Men smashed the Lakers by nearly 200 points in round two, and despite narrowing the gap to 122 on Saturday, Taylors Lake coach Deek Roberts was not happy with his charges.
The game was as good as over at quarter time as the home team raced to a 55-nil lead.
If not for a somewhat inaccurate 8.7 from Laharum, the lead could have been much higher.
The Lakers responded in the second quarter, stemming the bleeding and kicking two goals of their own.
Jayson Thompson and Jason Kannar held the backline together, while Roberts and assistant coach Pat Purcell played well in the middle.
When going forward however, Laharum simply had too many options.
Rhys Bennett booted five goals after missing the previous game with work commitments and Dale Dridan kicked four in his 150th match.
Ollie Braithwaite was among the best with three goals, and captain Sam Winfield provided his customary hard attack at the ball.
It was attack at the ball that Taylors Lake's Roberts listed as one of the few positives for his side, after an undisciplined first meeting with the Mountain Men.
"Our endeavour at the footy was much better, and we won a lot of it, but they were just better skilled and better drilled," Roberts said.
"We played some okay footy but we're too patchy.
"We've got to work on being more consistent because we know we're better than what we're playing like at the moment."
Laharum coach Shannon Argall said his team found its groove almost immediately after a week off.
"We slotted straight back into our game style in the first quarter and probably left them a bit shell-shocked," he said.
"But to their credit, they knuckled down and were a much more disciplined unit this time around."
