2016 - R5 v Donald
Congratulations to Lochlan Sirett who represented the N-C.F.L. senior team against Central Murray F.L. in interleague play last Saturday. Well done also to Nick Sands, Jack Lee and Ben Hogan who played in the U18s game, and Will Sheahan and Jonty Randall who played in the U15s.
Seniors
It was a tough day at the office for our footballers against Donald two weeks ago. However, it was great to see Zach Holmes play his 150th game for the club alongside five players he coached when they were in the U16s. Unfortunately Donald’s top-ranked senior team were too good on the day, controlling the game from start to finish to win by 77 points. The interleague weekend has given us the opportunity to reset and a much better performance is expected today against Wedderburn. Awards v Donald: Daniel Ratcliffe (Donnellons' Bulk Haulage), Michael Monteith (Landmark), Sean Hogan (Bowens' Commercial Hotel), Callum Atkinson (Birchip Hotel), Lochlan Sirett (Mlldura Finance), Ben Munzberg (Birchip Motel).
Reserves
The reserves also ran into an irrepressible Royal Blues team, going down by 94 points. Two of the best performers for the Bulls were Luke Symes and Mitch Barry who are both in their first year at the club. It is great to see these newcomers playing with such determination and pride for the Bulls jumper. Awards: Luke Symes (Donnellons' Bulk Haulage), Mitch Barry (Bowens' Commercial Hotel), George Fowler (Birchip Hotel), Tom Brain (Bourkes' Butchers), Jack Lee (Birchip Hardware), Matt Berry (Birchip Motel).
U16s
The U16s put in a competitive performance but were kept at bay a solid Donald line-up, losing by 40 points. The boys have been doing a great job so far this season, often having fewer than 18 players available for selection. It is a credit to the team that they are still well and truly in contention for finals. This week provides a great chance to return to the winners list in a grand final replay against Wedderburn. Awards v Donald: Luke Fowler (Noonans' Tyres & Sharps’ Bakery), Lachlan Braine (Jnr Executive), James Paley (B-W Footy Ladies), Jonty Randall (TMC Enviro), Hemi Fowler (J&K Sheahan Encouragement), Nick Ryan (BB&LC Coaches’ Award).
U13s
As with the seniors and reserves, the U13s took on a Donald team that sat undefeated on top of the league ladder. The Calves were far from overawed by the challenge but were defeated by 37 points. Patrick Sheahan continued his good form in the middle of the ground while Daniel Braine had an excellent game in defence.Awards: Patrick Sheahan (Noonans’ Tyres & Sharps Bakery), Daniel Braine (Jake & Billy Noonan), Patrick Hogan (B-W Footy Ladies), Harvey Lewis (Bowens’ Sports Store), Nick Rickard (CWA Coaches’ Award), Charlie Frank (A&M Lee Encoruagement).
