Round 4 v Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers @ Birchip
Seniors
Birchip-Watchem hosted Sea Lake Nandaly in a Mallee battle last week and in the senior football the Bulls were victorious by 51 points. Amazingly all the Bulls’ 13 goals were kicked consecutively, with the visitors bookending the match with the first two, then the final three goals. The defence was near impenetrable in the second and third quarters, with Reid, Noonan, Ben Hogan and Monteith all playing their best games for the season so far. In the midfield, Stefan Pye was the standout and helped to provide plenty of opportunities to Gordon, Paulke and co. up forward. Choosing vote getters was an unenviable task in what was a strong team performance. Awards: Stefan Pye (Landmark & Mildura Finance), Joseph Reid (Donnellon’s Bulk Haulage), Lochy Sirett (Emerald Hotel South Melbourne), Nathan Gordon (Bowens’ Commercial Hotel), Jake Noonan (Birchip Hotel), Ben Hogan (Watchem Hotel).
Reserves
With numerous players unavailable the depth of the Reserves was tested but the boys passed with flying colours. Goldsmith, Sheridan, Trollope and Connelly came in to the side for their first games for the season and all proved themselves to be worthy inclusions. The Bulls increased their lead at every change to eventually run away 52-point victors. Awards: Harrison Christie (Donnellons' Bulk Haulage & Birchip Motel), Jak Goldsmith (Bowens' Commercial Hotel), Jack Lee (Birchip Hotel), Matt Ryan (Bourkes' Butchers), Connor Walsh (Watchem Hotel), Luke Fowler (Birchip Hardware).
U16s
The U16s suffered their first defeat for the season against an impressive Tigers outfit. U13s
The Tigers also fielded a very strong U13s team and they defeated the Calves by 56 points.
