2015 PRESIDENTS REPORT
This year has seen another outstanding effort by players, parents and supporters collectively. Our club is going from strength to strength and continues to succeed both on and off the field.
Thanks to many great coaching teams, the club had great success with the players continuing to improve their footy skills whilst enjoying themselves and cementing friendships. The Mini’s parents and players were terrific this year with their obvious enthusiasm and participation in club games and training nights.
This year resulted in all of our Mod’s and International sides making the semi-finals series which is a mammoth effort from all involved. Then, three of our sides (U/10’s, U/11’s and U/16’s) moved forward to secure much sought after positions in the Grand Final.
The U/10’s, although beaten on the day, showed true grit and determination. They never gave up and played their hearts out to the very end. Congratulations to Justin and the boys!
The U/11’s were both minor and major premiers this year going through the season undefeated. They say that you have to lose a grand final to win one. Well, after losing last year’s grand final the boys have come back bigger and better this year showing true determination. The U/11’s grand final last weekend was of a very high standard with both sides playing terrific football. Congratulations to Mick and his team!
The U/16’s competition has been extremely close all year with a number of the top sides all beating one another through the season. Bilambil, on Saturday, were dogged and determined. They defended incredibly whilst under a great deal of pressure in the first half. Eventually, they were able to gain the upper hand and ran out convincing winners. Sincere congratulations to Zach and all of the boys for an outstanding team effort!
I would like to make special mention of the 11 Junior Life Members from this U/16’s side as well as the five other boys who also played in this team for 8 years. It is a club record and one that all of Bilambil Footy Club is very proud of. “Jet’s for Life!”
On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone involved in the club this year. It has been a very rewarding time with a number of new parents putting their hands up to help out, which is great to see! I would also, like to thank all of the people that year after year continue to give this club great service.
A special mention to Lex and Noeleen Lowcock and Terri-Lee James for their incredible effort of 25 years of continuous service to the Bilambil Jets Footy Club! Also, congratulations to Geoff Kennedy upon receiving his Life Membership for 20 years’ service to the club this year. A great honour Geoff!
I have, as President of this great club, enjoyed immense satisfaction and pride in leading you all again this year. We certainly have something special at Bilambil which is very hard to explain to those who don’t get to experience it.
Finally, we have a number of projects and jobs that we are undertaking over the off season which will improve our facilities even further. So, we may need a hand on a few occasions in the near future.
