Amos Frank
Fregon/Woodville West Torrens/Hawthorn
As a footballer, Amos began his Far North West Sports League career with the Mimili Blues in 2007, playing a vital part in the Premiership victory.
In 2008 and 2009, again for Mimili, Frank was a member of the side that narrowly lost both Grand Finals. He represented the APY Lands in the Rio Tinto Aboriginal Lands Challenge Cup at AAMI Stadium and also the Anangu All-Stars against Yeundumu at the MCG.
It was in 2010 that Amos made the move to play for Fregon, his home community. His impact was evident early in the year with dominant performances and the team went on to play finals for the first time.
The FNWSL Best & Fairest award was introduced for season 2010 and it was Amos who was a clear winner.
He also added the Fregon Best & Fairest award and the Best on Ground medallions in the Rio Tinto Aboriginal Lands Challenge Cup and the FNWSL Grand Final.
Amos attended the AFL's Rio Tinto Footy Means Business Program in Melbourne, playing for Northern against Southern on the MCG.
If 2010 was a breakthrough year for Amos, it was 2011 that cemented his name as a consistent and dominant player on all surfaces.
The season provided Frank with another FNWSL Best & Fairest and Fregon Best & Fairest.
He represented APY in the Rio Tinto Aboriginal Lands Challenge Cup and South Australia at the AFL's Rio Tinto Footy Means Business Program in Melbourne and Sydney.
Frank also played for the SA U23 Aboriginal State Team and was amongst the best players.
It was from the High Performance Testing during the Rio Tinto Aboriginal Lands Challenge Cup that Amos was noticed by AFL scouts. He broke the Adelaide Football Club's 20m Sprint Record, previously held by Patrick Dangerfield. His time of 2.82 seconds narrowly beat Dangerfields time of 2.86 seconds.
Woodvile/West Torrens Football Club showed immense interest in Amos and along with Kieran Roberts, debuted in Round 20 against Glenelg in the Reserves. Frank finished with 13 possessions and two goals. His speed, confidence, flair and skills on both feet were evident.
AFL scouts witnessed the match and he was invited to the NAB AFL Draft State Screening.
In the end, Amos was picked up by Hawthorn in the Rookie Draft.
He continues to develop as a footballer and role model as he trains full time with Hawthorn alongside some greats of the game; Buddy Franklin, Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell and excitement machine Cyril Rioli.
Although unable to debut until after round 13 (as he is a rookie), Amos continues to impress for VFL affiliate, the Box Hill Hawks.
