Zodiacs Basketball Club
Welcome to Zodiacs Basketball Club, the Adelaide Hills OLDEST Basketball club.
When six teenagers started the first Zodiac basketball team in 1967, they had no idea that in 50 years the club would grow to have over 50 teams on the courts today.
70 year old Jock Dean remembers being a teenager and wanting a sporting outlet, so he got together five guys and has watched it grow from there. “I remember it started from five 18 year old guys wanting to have a round of basketball and it’s grown into this! We’re so proud,” Jock said.

- Call for team nominations for 1968 season was made on 18th Oct 1967
- Founding members met at Don Symond’s Deli on Gawler St. in Mt Barker and decided on the club name and colours during that next week.
- Founding Members were: Rod Meldrum, Phil Love, Peter Eaton, Rob Thompson and Jock Dean
- Club colours were Gold and Blue.
- Initial outfit was a white Bonds singlet dyed yellow, with nlue numbers. The shorts were also white football shorts, dyed yellow. Later changed to blue shorts
- Inaugural Coach was the High School Teacher, Moss Potter
- The first game was in February 1968

Zodiacs is the last one standing, which is a testament to the hard working volunteers, umpires, coaches and players who have made this club the greatest.
