PINES CLUB NOTES. Round 14. Karingal v Pines. 26 July 2014

It was with much sadness that our day of football was played last Saturday after our club had learnt of the passing of Life Member Max Partington. Max fought a long fight against severe illness and our deepest sympathies go to Diane and the family. We were also to learn of the passing of John Glanz who was a former senior club committee man. If the winning of a game of football was judged on the amount of endeavour shown we would be seen as victors over Mt Eliza. Talk about wanting to win, these blokes are ready to take a tank apart. Get the score on the board first though. Pines began the last qtr with 9pts in credit but then allowed the Mounties to kick 4gls and so fell to a 15pt loss.Patrick Jackson (son of Kim), in his first senior game, was seen as our best player. Best; P.Jackson, Matt Goodman and Joel Brunn. Guy Hendry booted 4gls which now sees him equal second in the league goals. Reserves held the top side for 3qtrs but then the Mounties’ polish and shine got that team home by 30pts. Best; Dave McLaren, Gordon Hendry and Adam McPherson. Thirds gave of their best in an unrewarded team effort. Contrary to popular belief, Gordo’s 475 club games have not ticked over yet but will do so here at Karingal today. The big fella has played 323 snr and 151 res gms. He’s having one of his best seasons for some time and the street talk is going all his way regarding trophy time. Steve Ryan (if playing) will play his 500th. He has played 320 snr gms (6 other club’s first 18), 60 AFL reserves gms, 52 AFL thirds gms, 57 Pines snr gms and 10 Pines reserves gms. He has been valiantly filling in when our Reserves are short so he just may be out there today again upon which we say Well Done Steve. Coming soon, a new titleholder for our-‘most reserves games played without playing a senior game’. Stay tuned. See Paul Dalton for more info on the Leaf and Star theory. The Last Bud.

NB -We are starting to get some feedback re our club notes now that we have the website operating again. Any suggestions or comments suitable for publication can be sent to Paul Williams. pmwilliams7@bigpond.com
Club notes seen here on the website are an extended version of those seen in the footy record where there is only limited calculated space.
