Match Wrap - June 23

Div 5 had the bye, whilst the Ramettes ventured to Marrickville and the remaining sides all played at home.

Div 5

A well deserved bye for the Div 5 boys, who are still in the process of cleaning the Monarch mud off themselves.

The Rams seniors dropped to fifth spot on the ladder after suffering their second successive defeat, this time against Southern Power at home. The Rams started brightly with a Daniel Schroot goal in the opening minutes, but the second placed Power exerted their superiority and raced to a 48 point lead at half time. They extended their lead in the second half to come away with a convincing 76 point win. Adam Sharp and Dave Bradley were inspirational for Penrith whilst Under 18s' player James Devlin top scored with a double.

Reserve Grade maintained third spot on the ladder with a convincing 121 point win over the Power, keeping them to just five behinds. First year player Mark Batten was best for Penrith with Brayden Wilson also being a big contributor whilst Jake Sultana (5 goals) and Mark Jackson (4 goals) topped the scorers' list in the 18 goal rampage.

The Under 18s suffered a heavy loss at the hands of a very well drilled St George outfit. The loss of many quality players in recent weeks through injury has not helped their cause but they kept going until the final siren. Marty Wyburn put in a solid 80 minute performance whilst Jeff Noble played his best game of the season.

The Ramettes travelled to Mahoney Park and had the daunting task of playing the undefeated Balmain Dockers, last year's premiers. Injuries and unavailabilities ravaged the committed group but despite the heavy loss the Ramettes restricted their opponents in the second half in what was a brutal match. Nikki McNeill was inspirational while Kate Easthope returned to her best following injury.
