Latest News!

At a recent LYVNA meeting the following information has been raised for the upcoming season.  Please that the time to read it and explain it to your child.

Bad Language

Umpires have been told clamp down on bad language, from both players and supporters. Players will be sent off if heard by the umpires, you will not be allowed to replace the player until 1/4 time if this happens.

Bad language or behaviour from supporters will also not be tolerated. If you as coaches, or even parent supporters believe a spectator is out of line, report it to the office immediately, a supervisor will be directed to the court to try to deal with the issue.

Respecting Umpires

Players are to be reminded to respect the umpires at all times. There is no point reacting poorly to a decision as it has already been made and will not be changed. Encourage your players, regardless of what they think, to move on.

Coaches are not to abuse, or make comment about umpires that may offend. If coaches hear players, or even parents from their team they are to encourage them to keep their comments to themselves.

Scoring

Coaches/team managers are to ensure there is a scorer present from their team. The scorers from each team must stand together. What is written on the sheet is final. There is no point standing apart, then saying at the end of a quarter or a game, I had the score different on my note pad....that won’t be accepted. The official score sheet is the only result that will be accepted.

At the new courts they are also hoping to have the flip scoreboards, so the score can be seen for every court BUT, still at the end of the game the score sheet is the official score only, even if the scoreboard shows something different.

If there is a dispute at the end of the game, the 2 scorers, and umpires are to go to the window all together.

Rules of Netball

ALL coaches should know the Rules of Netball, and also the LYVNA by-laws. This should be on the website, if they are not or you have trouble finding them please let me know.

Fill in players - remember  players are only allowed to play 2 games in a higher section within the same age group they play in. It is the coaches             responsibility to know this. I am asking ALL Bimbadeen coaches to consult with the other coach if they want to use a player from another team, within their age group. If that coach is not able to be contacted, and you are not sure, DON’T use that player. Do not rely on the children to remember.

Under 9 Coaches

It has been mentioned again, that coaches change the positions and let everyone have a turn at all positions. It is recommended that you play the players in the same position for 1/2, then when you change those players, only move them one position, eg, GA to WA, GK to GD.  I know this won’t always work but is just a suggestion to have players, especially new ones, less confused.

There is no ladder for under 9s.

NEW Courts

When we get to play at Kilsyth, there are 2 benches on each court. These are for players, coaches and team officials. The committee has told us that the coaches will need to stay in that vicinity, and not walk up and down the court coaching. The only exception to this rule is Under 9 coaches. They will be allowed to walk up and down to coach and advise their players....

Please make sure you read our Health and Well Being Policy regarding bullying and the club's stance on these issues.  It is a requirement of playing with our club that you agree to abide by our policies.  Thanks in advance.
