Code of Conduct - Coaches

  1. Remember that we are a club open to any player who is willing to abide by our rules, all players must be given equal court time, regardless of ability.
  2. Keep accurate records for each game, regarding positions played, interchange players etc.,
  3. Treat individual players with respect and loyalty. Don’t make any derogatory comments to team members or any parent in regards to any player.
  4. During each game separate yourself from parents and spectators. Insist players come to you during breaks.
  5. Children participate for fun and enjoyment and winning is only part of their motivation. Never ridicule or yell at a player for making mistakes or losing.
  6. Use positive reinforcement to encourage and enthuse players.
  7. Teach players that an honest effort is as important as victory.
  8. Teach your players that the rules are mutual agreements that no one should evade or break.
  9. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse.
  10. Teach good sportsmanship and set a good example for your team to follow
  11. Develop team respect for the ability of their own members, their opponents and the judgment and decisions of officials and opposing coaches.
  12. If you disagree with an official or umpire, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question their judgment and honesty in public or behind their backs. Remember most officials and umpires give their time for your benefit.
  13. Keep informed of sound coaching principles and keep up to date with coaching courses.
  14. Never deceive or mislead a player.
  15. Be fair and considerate.
  16. Be dignified and controlled and teach players to be likewise.
