SUNBURY UNITED TIGERS WIN THE GRAND FINAL

SUNBURY TIGERS took out the 2013 Grand Final on Saturday the 7th September, defeating the Altona Roosters 36-16, in a fast moving good clean game of League. The Roosters scored first, but the TIGERS led 16-4 at half time.more

2012 GRAND FINAL

The TIGERS (22)were defeated by Altona Roosters (25), in a good game of Grand Final footy at Waverley. The TIGERS had led the competition all season and in this game were leading 18 to 6 at half time. Now need to think about next season!more

SEMI FINAL

The TIGERS went into the first semi against NW Wolves at newport on sunday 26th August on a dry field at last. The TIGERS put the first points up on the board,but ended behind14 to 22 at the break. Although taking on a high injury toll and a sendoff in the second half, the TIGERS clawed their way back,to come out winners 33 to 26. They move on straight into a Grand Final berth.more

MASTERS TO HAY

The TIGERS MASTERS TEAM are lined up to appear in HAY,NSW, against the YENDA BLUEHEELERS on the weekend of the 11th/12th of August. They are currently building that squad and have 16 definite players lined up for a great weekend away!!! Coached by Ben Roarty and assisted by John Bourke the fellas are getting into good form for the big event.more

GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL

A big thanks goes to the players/ members for manning one of the traffic lights in East Keilor on Good Friday and raising $4,945.35.They put their hands up to assist THE UNCLE BOB`S CLUB(a non profit group, formed in 1942 aiming to raise funds towards the sick and disabled children of Victoria). The Uncle Bob`s raised a total of $507,000 on the day.more

CONSTRUCTION UNDER WAY

The TIGERS extra two new changerooms are now well under construction, giving us a total of four,all with their own separate shower,wc facilities. This along with a larger no.1 changeroom,bigger canteen and big storage rooms will really lift the facilities profile. Making do with the temporary rooms, canteen etc. for a short term will be well worth it.

NEW MAJOR SPONSOR 2012

The TIGERS have gained another Major Sponsor for the upcoming 2012 Season. "SHEPARDS COMPLETE CAR CARE" have come on board enthusiastically, offering big support to both the 1st Grade and 2nd Division teams. Along with this boost to the Club, "ESSENDON SMASH REPAIRS" - Airport West , have also put their hand up in support of the TIGERS.  This should give the Club a good kickoff in 2012.more

GOLD COAST MASTERS TEAM 2012

This will be the SUNBURY UNITED TIGERS 4th year involved in the ARL GOLD COAST MASTERS competition at RUNAWAY BAY in march 2012. We still have a couple of vacancies in the squad. SUNBURY TIGERS WIN THE VICTORIAN 2011 GRAND FINAL

THE SUNBURY TIGERS TOOK OUT THE 2011 GRAND FINAL ON SUNDAY AT WAVERLEY, WINNING IN EXTRA TIME (5 minutes each way) AGAINST THE NORTH WEST WOLVES. THE FINAL SCORE CAME UP AT 32 TO 26, AFTER THE TWO TEAMS WERE DRAWN AT 26 ALL AT THE 80 MINUTE MARK. THE TIGERS SCORED IN THE 3rd EXTRA MINUTE, CONVERTED THE TRY AND WELL OUTMANNED THE WOLVES IN THE FINAL 5 MINUTES. THE GRAND FINAL MAN OF THE MATCH AWARD WENT TO THE TIGERS JOSEPH KAMANA.  JOE, ALSO WAS THE HIGHEST POINT SCORER IN THE VRL COMPETITION IN 2011.  (102 POINTS (including 21 tries) ). OUT OF THE LAST THREE GRAND FINALS, SUNBURY HAS WON THE MAN OF THE MATCH AWARD. THE TEAM AND SUPPORTERS PARTIED ON WELL INTO THE EARLY HOURS OF MONDAY. THIS WAS CAMARADERIE AT ITS BEST!

THE TEAM AND CLUB OFFICIALS WOULD LIKE TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF THEIR SPONSORS, SUPPORTERS AND WORKERS INVOLVED WITH THE CLUB IN 2011.

ISABELLES ANGELS

The SUNBURY TIGERS have decided to put their fully signed 2011, Melbourne Storm Jersey, towards  helping out  2 year old ISABELLE and her family from Altona Meadows. Isabelle is fighting Leukemia at a very young age which has placed a tremendous strain on all the family. The framed Jersey will be auctioned  with many other great items on Saturday 27th of August at 72 Greg Norman Drive, Point Cook/ Sanctuary Lakes between 7 to midnight. INTO THE 2011 GRAND FINAL

The SUNBURY TIGERS are now locked into the Grand Final at Waverley on sunday 4th of September, after having defeated the Altona Roosters in the Semi at Altona, 60 to 30, last sunday. This game was fast, clean and played in the good spirit of Rugby League itself.  The Club committee and fellow members wish the TEAM the best of luck for the big day.      G`ARN THE TIGERS!!!!!

A TIGER DOWN BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

The SUNBURY UNITED TIGERS would like to offer their condolences to the family and friends of PAUL GARBELLOTTO, who passed away suddenly last week.  PAUL was a MASTERS competition player for the TIGERS. PAUL`S funeral will take place tomorrow, Friday the 22nd June and the CLUB will be well represented  there.        PLAY ON ,PAUL!!

The TIGERS have recently been accreddited as a Level 3 GOOD SPORTS CLUB.With their committment to ensuring that strictly regulated control of liquor sales take place, this action by all sporting club`s can help to save lives ,injury and family structures. We see alcohol sales as Ok, but only if done so correcctly supervised.

BIG HEARTS HELPING LITTLE HEARTS

In 2011, once again the TIGERS will be raising funds during the season for the Royal Childrens Hospital HEART WING. Its not until families that have been affected by their children having serious heart conditions do they see the severe reality of it all. Every cent towards research in this field goes a long way into getting positive results. If you care for kids - get your Club involved too!

SEASON TWENTY FOR SUNBURY

The TIGERS go into the Club`s 20th season in 2011. The years have rolled by quickly and seen big changes at Langama park for League to be firmly entrenched in the district. The TIGERS are looking forward to a strong season in both the Senior and Junior Club Grades.

GOLD COAST MASTERS AGAIN

The TIGERS are once again sending a full squad of players to the ARL Runaway Bay Masters Comp in March. This time round there will be 70 teams playing at the massive venue.Our fellas played well last year at the tournament and are starting to get the old footy bug again already! There are a few fresh faces in the squad and a big thanks goes to the Sponsors that have stepped forward to support the fella`s.
