COMMUNITY AND GAME DEVELOPMENT UNIT
Canterbury-Bankstown District Junior Rugby League Meeting Report: 23 July, 2012.
1) Little League recruitment program:
a) Of approximately 350 participants in the program this year, 211 have been new players to the game. Sixty-five (65) of these new players have gone on to register for a Junior League Club in 2012.
b) A new program is set to start on Tuesday, 14 August at Terry Lamb Reserve (Belmore).
a) Skills Development Program. During the October School Holidays, we will again host our annual Skills Development Program for players aged 12 – 15. For more details please visit our website.
b) Kicking Clinic. Approximately thirty five (35) players aged 13 – 16 took part in our 2012 Kicking Clinic at Liverpool Catholic Club. Damien Hill, the Wests Tigers Kicking Coach, combined with our staff to provide expert coaching for the participants.
c) Positional Camp – Forwards. A position-specific camp for 13 – 15 year olds was hosted again at St Gregory’s College. Approximately forty (40) Junior League players took part and were provided with representative standard coaching as well as video game analysis.
3) Coach Support.
a) An International Game Coach Update was held in conjunction with Andy Patmore from the Bulldogs and Charbel Khoury, the District Coach Mentor. Over 50 coaches attended and provided very positive feedback.
b) A Mod League Skills Matrix has been produced to accompany the Mini Footy Coaching Resource.
c) A mailing list for Junior League Coaches has been established to enable regular communication with coaches to facilitate distribution of resources and notification of events. Coaches can join at: http://eepurl.com/nuFzP
4) Weight & Age Program.
a) The U12 and U14 Gala Day will again take place in September this year (Sun 16 Sep).
b) We are currently working with Penrith Junior League to investigate the viability of Weight and Age Divisions in the U6 and U13 competitions for 2013.

5) Community Connections.
a) Rugby League specific participation days for people with disabilities have been held in conjunction with Parramatta, Penrith and Campbelltown Councils. A further event is scheduled for 5 September with Holroyd Council.
6) Born To Be Blue.
a) An exclusive clinic was again hosted for BTBB members with the NSW State of Origin team at Coogee. Prizes from the various competitions conducted this year are currently being distributed.
7) Research and Education.
a) Senior Club Coach Courses will be conducted in conjunction with the Parramatta and Penrith Districts (commencing 7 Nov) as well as Canterbury and Western Suburbs (comm. 3 Nov). Cost $120, registration available at www.coachrugbyleague.com.au.
8) Club Development
a) We are currently working with the Milperra Colts in a Club Planning process with the aim of developing an ongoing improvement plan for the club to work towards.
