2013 Knockout results

South City Bulls from Wagga defeated Woden Valley Rams (Canberra) 14-0 in the final of the 42nd Pre-Season knockout this again sponsored by Case IH & McClintock & Co machinery dealers of West Wyalong, Forbes, Grenfell & Canowindra.

The semi-finals saw South City defeat Bidgee Hurricanes 12-4 and Woden Valley topple TL United Sharks from Lake Cargelligo 10-0.

Other quarter finalists were Wagga Brothers, Temora Dragons, Q'bn Kangaroos & Cowra Magpies. The locals were bundled out on Friday night, going down to Queanbeyan Kangaroos 8-4 in what was probably the best game of the entire series.

From the weekend it would be safe to say South City & Temora will have a good year ahead. Tumbarumba were disappointing after all of the hype pre-series but should use this as a learning curve. In Group 20 West Wyalong, Lakes & Bidgee Hurricanes should again be at the pointy end of the ladder in September, and DPC were not disgraced in their effort pushing South City to a 22-10 scoreline in their Round 1 game.

Cowra looked the better of the Group 10 sides who entered while Forbes, without their Captain/Coach, played well but went down to Temora 22-4.

From the Canberra District League (Group 8) Q'bn Kangaroos & Woden Valley both went past Round 1 but West Belconnen were stopped by Wagga Brothers 12-6. Kangaroos & Woden played a 4-4 draw in their quarter final, Woden winning on being the first try scorer & of course finished in the final, so that says something about these 2 Canberra sides.

Overall a great weekend of pre-season "20-20" style football that entertained an estimated 5000 people over the 2 nights.
