2012 QRL Townsville Summer Camp
Applications will soon be closing on the 26th Annual Queensland Rugby League Development Camp held at Townsville’s James Cook University. Each December some 200 players aged 12 – 17 converge in Townsville for the 5 day, 4 night live in camp for expert coaching and tuition by NRL & NQ Cowboys Development staff in the field of Rugby League. All participants who register receive two training shirts, official QRL football, gear bag, hat, water bottle and camp photos. Along with the expert coaching, a fully interactive afternoon with the North Queensland Cowboys NRL & NYC squads where campers will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with players of the calibre of Jonathon Thurston, Matt Scott, James Tamou and Matthew Bowen. It is also the only opportunity in North Queensland for Coaches and Trainers to upgrade their accreditations to Level 2. Past and present lecturers in the Level 2 Senior Club Coach Course have included former and current Cowboys coaching staff Grant Bell, Graham Murray, Ian Millward, Neil Henry, Matt Parish, Mick Crawley, Peter Ryan & Terry Matterson and is a not to be missed event for aspiring coaches.
To give you an idea of the calibre of the Education Program, some of this year’s Senior Club Coach Candidates are Aaron Payne, Rod Jensen and Clint Amos between which there is some 450 NRL games experience. Unfortunately the Senior Club Course is now closed due to capacity numbers however if you are still wishing to apply, we will put you onto a standby list in the case we have any SCC candidates drop out. All other programs are open.
Camp dates for Coaches and Trainers is Saturday 15th – Friday 21st December with the players camp commencing Monday 17th – Friday 21st December.
