The committee members who renominated at our recent AGM for 2013 are: Paul Robinson (President), Michael Schaumberg (Vice President) , David Appleby (Treasurer), Sandra Wilson (Registrar), Mim Mountney, Kerri Murphy. A new addition to the committee is Shae-Lee Murphy-Burke, our WRFL Youth Girls Best & Fairest - she is setting a fine example for her peers by getting involved.
We commend our outgoing committee members Anne Lisci, who has been Club Administrator Extraordinaire over the past three years, and Glenn Paton, who has been a coach, coaches' coordinator and committee member over the past four years. Thank you for your contribution.
It is a very rewarding endeavour to be involved in a great club - bring your skills, energy and ideas and join with us to keep quality football opportunities available for our children. Contact Sandra Wilson 0432 161 777 if you would like to know more about getting involved.more
At the clubrooms after the wins, there was a very telling and touching moment when Anthony Eames, coach of the seniors, presented his premiership medal to Barrie Muschialli, Club President. Two admirable pillars of the Altona Football Club's success. Small gestures speak volumes. Go Vikings! The whole community is proud of you.more

It is really heartening to see the numbers of our lower age group teams grow. This year we should again be able to have two U9 sides and numbers have also grown in our U13 & U14 age groups.
Every year we have the difficulty in asking some of our players to play in a higher age group due to numbers. This year is no exception and whilst at the start of the process there is some angst this quickly dissipates when all concerned realise there is little difference. By the end of the first couple of rounds all settles down and the players, and parents, make new friends and all are happy. As you can appreciate the AJFC would not be unique with this situation.
Due to the numbers in some sides, the following will take place:
A number of U11’s will join our 16 registered U12 players to form our U12 team
A number of U13’S AND U114’s will form a second U14 side.
The respective coaches will decide which players move (considering Team Selection Criteria in AJFC Season Handbook) and we seek your full support of their decisions.
We are seeking coaches for our second U9 & U14 teams so if interested please contact the club.
Should any parents need to discuss any of the above please do not hesitate to contact Paul Robinson (club President) on 0400 512 171.
PLEASE NOTE OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO HAVE AS MANY PLAYERS RUNNING AROUND ENJOYING THEIR FOOTBALL AS POSSIBLE.
Congratulations to the AJFC Committee for another season well done! The AGM held on 13 October saw the majority of committee members standing again for another season, with a new addition, Miriam Mountney, who was a great helping-hand over season 2011 at a team level and also to the ongoing Registrar, Sandra Wilson. Many hands make light work.
David Appleby, our fantastic "Treash", was nominated for Life Membership - a very fitting honour for someone who has made an enormous contribution to the club through astute financial management and attention to detail (to name just a few of his responsibilities).
We were pleased to welcome a number of highly regarded AJFC Life Members to the AGM - Kathy Wass, (a former Club Administrator); Eleanor Vivoda (ditto) and Igor Vivoda (reigning King of the BBQ - unopposed); Steve Lawler (former Club President) and Col Davies (former Vice President). Continuing community support for a club as grand as the Vikings is critical for its success.
Our outgoing Club Administrator, Anne Lisci, was unable to be at the AGM but she was honoured for the huge contribution she has made to the club and congratulated by all for being awarded WRFL Woman of the Year - go, get 'em girl!
You don't have to be woman of the year to be Club Administrator - in fact, you don't even have to be a woman. It is a big job, but is well-defined and there is support from a very professional and hardworking committee. Anne will give a guiding hand to the new incumbent. If you're interested, give us a call.
2012 Committee as elected:
Altona Junior Football Club enjoys the enormous support of many talented and passionate people who each help to make the football season a huge success by volunteering their time, expertise and energy. Without our volunteers, we would not be able to offer community football to junior players.
To all those people who make a difference by filling the important roles of coach, team manager, trainer, committee, fundraising, BBQ-ing, newsletter writing, umpiring, scoring, timekeeper, water person, jumper washing - in fact everything that is part of the workings of our club:
THANK YOU for YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO SEASON 2011
We hope we can welcome you back in season 2012 for another rewarding season of community football.more
The AJFC committee is proud that the club has achieved Silver Accreditation under the AFL's Quality Club Program. During the 2011 season, the committee has focussed efforts on risk assessment and management, volunteer recognition, committee training, trainer accreditation - all initiatives to make our club a strong community club that benefits our players, volunteers and families. Congratulations!more
Congratulations to our two teams that played in Grand Finals last Sunday.
Glory to our U12B side, who defeated Albion 4.14-44 to 4.4.28.
Gallant is what our U16C side were as they played hard but missed out on the winners' trophy going down to Glenorden 10.10-70 to 13.6-84.

Our Vikings U16C & 12B sides have also got Grand Final berths with grounds and opposition sides to be advised after this weekend's deciders.
Vikings U16A & U16C players had a very special mentoring session with football great, Wayne Carey, at this week's training session. As both teams head into WRFL grand finals, you couldn't hear a pin drop as "The King" shared with players how he physically and mentally prepared for big games. It's a credit to former great players who put back into community football and give inspiration to our developing players.more
