The Broadford power forward will be the star attraction of a Sunday game between the Kangaroos and Lancefield on April 7 in one of the highlights of the RDFL's 2013 fixture calendar, released on Friday. The clash will follow a season-opener between Wallan and Melton Central the day before during the two-match curtain-raiser weekend. The following week, Rupertswood will be welcomed into the competition when it tackles the nearby Sunbury Kangaroos, while the league has also scheduled an Anzac Day clash between Sunbury Kangaroos and Rockbank to cap off a big opening month. Each team will have two byes during the 19-week season, while the RDFL will make its return to interleague football with matches scheduled against the Kyabram District Football League on the weekend of May 25 and 26. RDFL general manager Rod Ward said the league was pleased with the final fixture schedule and feedback from clubs had also been positive. "The grand final will be played a week earlier next year, but it has retained its Sunday status, so it doesn't clash with neighbouring grand finals," he said. "I think the feedback from everyone involved at the AGM was they were fairly happy with it." Other highlights of the draw include a 2012 grand final re-match between Romsey and the Sunbury Kangaroos scheduled for Round 8 on June 8, with the two teams set to again lock horns during Round 16 on August 3. The season will also finish earlier than usual next year, with the grand final to be played two weeks before the AFL grand final on Sunday, September 15. ARTICLE WRITTEN BY CHRIS CAVANAGH.
