BRETT OWEN, LIONS LIFE MEMBER 2012..

Brett has provided 10 years of service to the Lions as a Player, Captain,
Assistant Coach, 2008 Best and Fairest, Committee member and Executive
member for the Lions.

Brett's first game with the Lions was in 2003 when the then 16 year old from
the Heatley Hawks along with Whiskey (Hermit Park Tigers) were drafted
(asked to help out) by the club to stand in and play for the Reserves.
Both Brett and Whiskey wanted to play in the Number 9 jumper, Whiskey won
and the next available 9 jumper was 39, the number Brett wears today.

Brett has played in excess of 238 Senior and Reserve games for the Lions
over the past 10 years, Brett has put in the hard yards for his club time
and again. Brett had the energy to run on the field when the Reserves grade
was short and recently stepping in to support the Senior grade.

Brett is the longest serving Player for the Lions and was identified as the
highest goal kicker for the Lions (per 2008 figures from AFLT).

Brett stepped up in 2007 to take on the role of Junior President for the
Lions and has been a committee member for the Lions since.

It is my opinion had Brett not asked his Family to help the Lions in
2007/2008 the Lions would not be where it is today.

In 2008 his on field performance awarded him the Best and Fairest Award for
the Lions and was nominated the AFL Townsville 2008 All Stars team.

In 2009 Brett stood and was part of the small committee which steered the
Lions back on the field in 2010. During this time it was Brett's suggestion
to run BBQ's to assist with 2007/2008 inherit debt and to raise the funds to
see the Lions back on the field in 2010.

Brett has been acknowledged by the Lions as the highest goal kicker for the
2010/11 Season and likely to be awarded this trophy again in 2012.

During Brett's participation he has received the following awards - The
Coach's Award 2006 and 2007, Club Clown 2007, runner up Best and Fairer
2007, Leading Goal Kicker 2010 and 2011, Best and Fairest 2008 and Brett's
greatest achievement to date - being selected in the AFL Townsville "All
Star" Team of 2008.
