Round 14 match reports by Stephen Marson
Under 19s:
The Cougars turned on the style after half time booting 25 goals to zero, in a massive 232-point win.
A relatively slow first half from Northcote Park only saw 10 goals kicked, as the North Heidelberg defence was standing up under immense pressure.
As the Bulldogs began to tire, the Northcote Park floodgates began to open.
Six goals to Janus Waldron and Daniel Constanzo, along with three from ruckman Alastair Punshon and Nik McNiece was enough to hand the Cougars the huge percentage boost.
Reserves:
Northcote Park led from start to finish in a comfortable 84-point win.
A six goal to two first half was enough to give the Cougars a handy 26-point lead at the main break.
The second half belonged to both David Cappellari and Rob Chadwick, as they both booted three goals each during the second half. Cappa finished with five for the day, and Chaddy with four.
Special mention to the Waldron twins Janus and Liam for both stepping up and filling in for the reserves, and both snagging a goal each!
Seniors:
A six goal to zero final term saw the Cougars overrun North Heidelberg by 41 points.
Northcote Park led the Bulldogs for most of the game, but the Dogs hung in there for the first three quarters, closing the gap to only six points by three quarter time.
With the home side looking to consolidate their spot in the top three, the Cougars managed to win the physical battle and kick the first couple to put the game to bed.
Northcote Park retains the George Simmons trophy, and have now won the previous five encounters with the Bulldogs.
Social
After Saturday August 1 away game against Bundoora, a band night will be held at the Northcote Park social rooms. The band is Get Serious, and the start time for the evening is 7pm.
