With the Under 19s having a bye the club only played the 2 games at Heidelberg.
On beautiful sunny and uncharacteristic warm May Day, arriving at the ground one sensed a picnic atmosphere, and very quiet day unlike normal Heidelberg v Northcote Park days. In fact, the atmosphere at the ground reminded me of the '80s band Culture Club film clip!
SENIORS
The boys were up against the early favorite the undefeated Heidelberg. After last week's encouraging form, The boys were hoping to test themselves against the Tigers, unfortunately what was to transpire over the next to 3 hours clearly showed that they did not pass the test.
The performance put by the team can be described by the following Culture Club songs:
"Do you really want to Hurt me": With some exceptions, the boys played as if it was a training run.
"Time": We certainly gave the opportunity to the Opposition to use the ball as they liked.
"Move Away": Most of the time we moved off their players,it did not play man on man when the situation warranted it.
"Karma Chameleon": The boys can just put the day as Bad Karma day, and the their true selves did not turn up to play, hence the Chameleon like performance.
But in the words, of another Culture Club song "Love is Love" and because we at Northcote Park FC are a Club with a great Culture, the supporters still love our players and teams will be there next Week at Bill Lawry Oval to see them take on Lower Plenty FC.
