UNDER 19s
Great start by the boys, everyone was up and about which saw team kick the first 2 goals of the Match. Bundoora, showed why they are second on the ladder an started to get back into the game by kicking the next 2, the boys answered by kicking the next 2 themselves thus taking a 2 goal lead at quarter time. Quarters 2 and three were very tight affairs, unfortunately for our boys some key errors and undisciplined play by them kept the game the close and were prove crucial. At the 10 minute mark of the last Bundoora hit the lead but to the boys credit we regained the lead, but then another key turnover saw Bundoora kick a goal to regain the lead and hold it.
Key contributors on the day in Tyson, Ben, Nathan, Alistair tried hard but as a hard as the rest of the Boys tried it just goes to show that you cannot give a top team a sniff as they will take advantage of it, as Bundoora did in fact prove.
Reserves
Coach Matt McLennan asked for four quarters from the boys and it was one of their most consistent performances for the season. The Bulls came into the match second on the ladder with the Cougars vying to maintain their spot in the top five. In what some spectators described as a great game of footy to watch, Northcote led at every change. Xavier Hall had another great game down back and the team welcomed Ricky Fandrich and Trent Fallon who had an immediate impact. Robbie Chadwick wrapped up another strong performance with a goal with just minutes remaining and it seemed the Cougars had done enough. But the Bulls, in reverse to the game between the two sides earlier in the season, came charging at the end with two late goals. It wasn’t enough and when the siren sounded the Cougars had prevailed by five points (7-8-50 v 6-9-45).
Seniors
The footy gods smiled upon us with the weather to come up against our old foes Bundoora. We lost Shawy early in the game after coming back from injury. It was goal for goal in the first half going into the long break five points up. We knew the second half was going to be a hard slog Bundoora were not going to lay down and let us dictate the terms, we had to stick to our game plan and back each other up. Third quarter 70m bomb from Jacko got the crowd in a frenzy then Luks Svarcs courageous mark of the century brought the house down. 15 points up with one quarter to go we could not afford a weak link in our chain it was body on the line for four points, the bulls hit us hard, scores were level with minutes to go. We get the ball forward to Jordan Perry, quick hands over to Koden Colman goal 6 points up siren goes great battle. Jordan Collopy was outstanding kicking 5 for the day. Next up Lower Plenty will be hard we need our A game for this one boys.
