Guard of Honour - Lions vs Swans 12th July

Recently, members of the Mt Gravatt Seniors QAFL team attended junior training and all participated in training drills being run for each team. At the conclusion of training, the Seniors were kind enough to draw players names who will be representing the Mt Gravatt JAFC in the Lions Guard of Honour on Saturday July 12 for the Lions –v- Sydney Swans Game.more

Vultures Auskickers at the Gabba

The Mt Gravatt Vultures Auskick clinic had the opportunity to participate in the Lions half time game on 3 May with players from the U6 and U8 teams playing at half time. The game was officiated by U14 player Brad Nuttall following comments received regarding his high standard of umpiring.more

Half-time Guard of Honour

Some of our U9s/10s recently showed their club support and played a half-time game during the first home game for the seniors. They formed a guard of honour for the senior players as they entered the field for the commencement of the 2nd half. All our junior players had an enjoyable experience and the crowd enjoyed the spectacle provided by the young vultures playing a game they all enjoy.more

Suns vs Hawthorn half-time game

The school holidays saw members of the U10s squad venture to Metricon Stadium to play a half-time game during the Suns vs Hawthorn match. According to those at the game, this match was a lot tighter affair than the main game, with both teams committing themselves fully to the contest. There were some great moments during the game and all players enjoyed themselves immensely.more

Apparel Sale Arrangements

Due to our ongoing ground improvements, which will deliver a great sporting ground, apparel sale arrangements are as follows: purchases will be available each Thursday from 5.30 - 6.30pm commencing April 17 until further notice. New registrations can also be taken. Please contact the committee for other options.more

Mt Gravatt JAFC engages Acceleration

Our club has created a partnership with Acceleration to enhance the performance of our youth club members. An 8 week program commences in February 2014 - please read on for more information.more

YOUTH COACHING APPOINTMENTS 2014

Mt Gravatt AFC appoints Age Coaches to oversee the developing of all the players in designated youth age groupings. The following Age Coaches have been appointed:

U11 & U12 (Player born 2003 & 2002) Mark Warwick
U13 & U14 (Player born 2001 & 2000) Warren Stone
U15 & U16 (Player born 1999 & 1998) Matt Gambellmore

NARELLE AUBREY AWARD WINNERS

Each year the club bestows the Narelle Aubrey award to a worthy player. Narelle Aubrey was a parent involved in the club who despite suffering from cancer volunteered as a team manager. She enthusiastically supported the club and players. The winners of the 2013 award are Jesse McGrory (U8 Blues) and Nick Greer (U9s). Congratulations to both players!more

Trivia Night Acknowledgements

Mt Gravatt JAFC would like to acknowledge the generous support of the many donors in gifting prizes and alcohol for the club’s principle fundraising night. Please see the attached word document for a full list of donors.more

Mt Gravatt Club Spirit on Display

Last Sunday after being cheered on by the U12's during their game the U16's returned the favour by forming a guard on honour for the U12's as they entered the field of play. Both teams finished the day with wins. Great support for your fellow Vultures - WELL DONE BOYS!more

Junior Half-time Game

Various players from the under 8s, 9s and 10s braved the damp conditions on Saturday to play a half-time game at Dittmer Park. The Mt Gravatt Vultures seniors were playing a fixture against Aspley and our junior boys enthralled the crowd at half-time. Well done to the players, organisers and parents who supported the seniors with this great display of ability and club spirit - well done!more

LIONS GUARD OF HONOUR

On Tuesday 11 June Claye Beams and Pearce Hanley attended training and signed autographs for the junior players. The Lions players also selected five players to represent the club in the guard of honour prior to the round 13 game on 23 June. The lucky players selected were:
Luke Thompson, Tevita Chan, Jackson Crook, Sam Johnstone and Riley McNaughton. Congratulations boys!more

LIONS VISIT TO THE VULTURES TRAINING

A reminder that junior training has been moved to Tuesday this coming week (11.06.13) as Lions players Pearce Hanley (11) and Claye Beams (17) will join us for the afternoon to assist with training sessions for all teams - under 6s to under 10s. The club will be firing up the BBQ for a sausage sizzle after training so bring your marker pens, Lions memorabilia and cameras for a great opportunity!more

New Club Polos are now available

The new club polos are now available from the canteen for a cost of $40. The polos are of a great quality and all sizes are currently available.more

Umpire Appreciation Round

Umpire appreciation round this weekend. We encourage all umpires, coaches and players to wear green tape on their right arm or on their boots in recognition of the great work our young umpires do. This weekend's under 9s game was an example of great umpiring. Many thanks goes to Brad Nuttall for his efforts this week.more

Under 6 Team has first game!

The Vultures under 6 team played their first game on Saturday 4 May. Jack, Wyatt, Beau, Archie and Dimi did a great job. Thanks to Zeke Taylor for taking on the coaching role today. If you know of any more younger players who would like a game, please ask them to contact the club.more

MENTOR PROGRAM

This season the Mt Gravatt Vultures looks to implement a mentoring program for players. The mentoring program provides older boys the opportunity to pass on their football skills and knowledge whilst improving their leadership qualities within the club. They will act as a role model for our Junior players.more

Get Started is one of 3 funding programs that comprise the QLD Government’s Get in the Game initiative to support sport and recreation at the grassroots level. It assists children and young people who can least afford or may otherwise benefit from joining a sport or recreation club.
