Accerleration Easter Holiday Camps

The Easter Holiday Speed and Strength Camps at Acceleration is for you. Acceleration's 3 Training centres are running 5 x 1 Hour Speed Camp Sessions and 5 x 1 Hour Strength Camp Sessions from 9am and 10am.

Training times

Under 6-10 age groups commence training on Monday 15/2 from 4.30pm and will train every Monday night.
Under 11 and 12 train Wednesday and Friday nights from 4.30pm commencing Wednesday 10/2.
Under 13, 14 and 15 teams train from 4.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday nights commencing Tuesday 9/2.
Under 17's train Wednesday and Friday nights from 4.30pm commencing 10/2.more


Canteen open for apparel sales

The canteen will be open Monday (from the 15/2) and Tuesday (from 9/2) and Wednesday nights (from 10/2) for apparel sales. The club has taken delivery of $20,000 worth of training singlets, polos, black shorts for under 12-17 game day , socks and playing shorts. All items are sold at near or below cost depending on the item. Players are welcome to use 2015 polos/shorts/socks.more

2016 training singlets included in registration fees

The new reversible training singlets for practice training use carrying our sponsors VTS Tower Cranes and Hoists and Southern Cross will arrive hopefully for sign-on day or shortly after. All PAID registrations will receive one immediately and they will continue to be available for collection each week from an updated registration list leading into the season proper at the canteen.more

2016 Sign-on days 6th and 7th of February

Sign-on days are 6th and 7th of February at Mt Gravatt. However this is more an opportunity to buy apparel and new players to make arrangements to join club. Current player registrations can be done on line via the registration tab. Enter your email details & you will complete the registration process and make payment. This allows all insurance and comp fees to finalise with AFL Qld at the time.more

Girls Play Footy Too

Mt Gravatt Junior AFL club is excited that AFLQBJs will have ALL GIRL COMPETITIONS in U11, U13, U15 and U17 as well as Brisbane South will again have an U9 girls shorter competition. The club is keen to hear from all interested players. For further information contact Kate Guy at

Mt Gravatt Female Player Co-ordinator apppointed

It is with great pleasure we announce the Mt Gravatt Junior AFC has appointed Kate Guy as the first female Coordinator for junior girls AFL. Kate has been involved with the Mt Gravatt JAFC for many years and in 2013 was awarded Life Membership due to her dedicated service to the club. In addition, Kate has been involved in coaching representative teams. Further details to follow in coming weeks.more

2016 registrations now open

2016 registrations are now open for all players from under 6-17. Please click on the registration area above. Early registrations allows for the club to manage team, coaching and other needs more efficiently. This year the club will be looking to field teams in under 6-11 on Saturdays and under 12-17 youth age groups. It is also looking to field under 9 and under 11 all girls teams.more

Mt Gravatt Junior AFC thanks Troy Elliott (Under 12 & 13)for organising his business to sponsor the Vultures in coming season. VT Services Tower Cranes & Hoists will be appearing on ground signage, polos and training singlets etc along with Southern Cross who have renewed their involvement with the junior club. The junior football club has a range of exciting sponsorships ranging from jersey sponsorships valued at $1000 for juniors and $1500 for youth through to full signage and apparel logos worth $2000 only for 2 seasons. 2015 Grand Final Results

Congratulations to the 3 teams that made grand finals who joined the Under 17 and Under 15 sides (both preliminary finalists) in enjoying a successful conclusion to the 2015 youth season. Great work boys and coaches:
Under 14 Div 2:Fantastic 77-48 win over Wilston Grange
Under 12 Div 1:Hard fought 38-29 loss in the Grand Final.
Under 12 Div 4:Tough 41-19 loss after closing to 23-19 in qtr 4.more

Pre-season training commmences

Optional summer pre-season training for players in under 12-17 squads commences this Friday 13/11 at Mt Gravatt from 4.30pm. All existing players welcome and new players will be required to complete permission to train form attached.more


The AGM will be held on 6/12/15 at 11.00am in the Vultures Nest at Southern Cross (function room). All committee positions are available for nomination please see attached form with 6-7 new members as a minimum required for 2016 season. Ideally at least three of these will be responsible in assisting the under 6-11 Saturday junior competitions. All welcome for this important meeting.more

This team is competing in the inaugural under 9 girls competition being held at Coorparoo AFC on a Friday evening. The 8 young players all enjoyed their first game last night. Well done girls.more

Congratulations to Phil Davies LIFE MEMBER

On Saturday 01/08/2015 Phil Davies was presented with an award for his dedication to the club in the form of a life membership. Phil joined the Vultures when his son began playing under 8’s and was ‘selected’ to coach his sons team. Since this event Phil has continued to provide assistance to the Mt Gravatt JAFC in various positions including team manager. In 2012 Phil became the President of tmore

Our U/11 Girls at Lions Clinic

On 13/2/15 our two under 11 girls Alex Fisher and Sofia Altea attended a Lions clinic for girls with our life member and girls coach Kate Guy who is assisting the coaching of the under 11's this year. They had a great time and photos with some pretty famous coaches were a highlight. The club would love more female players across all age groups and these opportunities are great for the girls.more

Registration of players still available U/6-10 and U13/14

Registrations can be done on line following the link above for both new and continuing players under 2015 registration tabs. Club continues to be interested in boys and girls for U/6-10 and U13/14 ages. Fees are restricted by Brisbane Juniors for under 6 and under 8 age groups. Approximately half of all registration fees goes to Brisbane Juniors and Insurance.

Under 16 Division 1 Vultures win a stirring grand final

Congratulations to Matt Gamble and his coaching/manager support staff and most importantly all the under 16 Div 1 side for a tremendous come from behind win against Sherwood. Down by 3 goals at 3/4 time the boys courageously fought back to win 9-7-61 to 6-12-48 in a tremendous win in the premier youth football competition in Brisbane. A great win to cap off a great year for all of our youth teamsmore

Half-time Guard of Honour

Some of our U9s/10s recently showed their club support and played a half-time game during the first home game for the seniors. They formed a guard of honour for the senior players as they entered the field for the commencement of the 2nd half. All our junior players had an enjoyable experience and the crowd enjoyed the spectacle provided by the young vultures playing a game they all enjoy.more

Mt Gravatt Club Spirit on Display

Last Sunday after being cheered on by the U12's during their game the U16's returned the favour by forming a guard on honour for the U12's as they entered the field of play. Both teams finished the day with wins. Great support for your fellow Vultures - WELL DONE BOYS!more


On Tuesday 11 June Claye Beams and Pearce Hanley attended training and signed autographs for the junior players. The Lions players also selected five players to represent the club in the guard of honour prior to the round 13 game on 23 June. The lucky players selected were:
Luke Thompson, Tevita Chan, Jackson Crook, Sam Johnstone and Riley McNaughton. Congratulations boys!more

Umpire Appreciation Round

Umpire appreciation round this weekend. We encourage all umpires, coaches and players to wear green tape on their right arm or on their boots in recognition of the great work our young umpires do. This weekend's under 9s game was an example of great umpiring. Many thanks goes to Brad Nuttall for his efforts this week.more
