Our U/11 Girls at Lions Clinic

On 13/2/15 our two under 11 girls Alex Fisher and Sofia Altea attended a Lions clinic for girls with our life member and girls coach Kate Guy who is assisting the coaching of the under 11's this year. They had a great time and photos with some pretty famous coaches were a highlight. The club would love more female players across all age groups and these opportunities are great for the girls.more

Apparel Sales and Prices

Apparel is available after most Monday, Tuesday and Friday training sessions through February and March. All new players receive a free club bag whilst stocks last. The club sells all apparel at a couple of dollars above cost and items such as training singlets well below cost.

Registration of players

Registrations can be done on line following the link above for both new and continuing players under 2015 registration tabs. All girls and boys aged 5-17 are most welcome to join the mighty vultures. Fees are restricted by Brisbane Juniors for under 6 and under 8 age groups. Approximately half of all registration fees goes to Brisbane Juniors and Insurance.

New Under 13/14 age coach Brad Barker

Brad has been involved in coaching for 3 years at junior age levels. He has a background playing the game & holds high enthusiasm for developing all players of all standards. Brad does not have a child in this age group and hence this demonstrates a rare commitment to coaching. He is keen to work with parents and supporters within the age group to maximise participation & development. Welcome Bradmore

2015 Training Pre Season Training

Tuesday 20 January 430-6pm training for U11,12,13 and 14 age groups continuing each Tuesday.
Wednesday 21 January 430-6pm training for U15,16 and 17 age groups continuing each Wednesday.

New Under 15/16 age coach

Mt Gravatt JAFC is pleased to announce Cameron James as our new coach in this age group. Cameron has level 2 coaching accreditation and is a former under 19 and reserves player at Carlton and a former seniors player at Mt Gravatt. He has coached Division 1 sides in the AFL BJ competitions the last 3 seasons. Welcome Cameron.more

New Under 16/17 Age Coach

Mt Gravatt JAFC announces Clayton Benson as the new age coach for the 2015 season. Clayton has level 2 coaching accreditation and in 2014 coached the Redlands Under 18 side through an undefeated home and away season. In 2012 and 2013 he coached Division 1 sides in the AFL BJ competition. We welcome Clayton to his new role.more

Under 16 Division 1 Vultures win a stirring grand final

Congratulations to Matt Gamble and his coaching/manager support staff and most importantly all the under 16 Div 1 side for a tremendous come from behind win against Sherwood. Down by 3 goals at 3/4 time the boys courageously fought back to win 9-7-61 to 6-12-48 in a tremendous win in the premier youth football competition in Brisbane. A great win to cap off a great year for all of our youth teamsmore

Guard of Honour - Lions vs Swans 12th July

Recently, members of the Mt Gravatt Seniors QAFL team attended junior training and all participated in training drills being run for each team. At the conclusion of training, the Seniors were kind enough to draw players names who will be representing the Mt Gravatt JAFC in the Lions Guard of Honour on Saturday July 12 for the Lions –v- Sydney Swans Game.more

Half-time Guard of Honour

Some of our U9s/10s recently showed their club support and played a half-time game during the first home game for the seniors. They formed a guard of honour for the senior players as they entered the field for the commencement of the 2nd half. All our junior players had an enjoyable experience and the crowd enjoyed the spectacle provided by the young vultures playing a game they all enjoy.more

Mt Gravatt Club Spirit on Display

Last Sunday after being cheered on by the U12's during their game the U16's returned the favour by forming a guard on honour for the U12's as they entered the field of play. Both teams finished the day with wins. Great support for your fellow Vultures - WELL DONE BOYS!more

Junior Half-time Game

Various players from the under 8s, 9s and 10s braved the damp conditions on Saturday to play a half-time game at Dittmer Park. The Mt Gravatt Vultures seniors were playing a fixture against Aspley and our junior boys enthralled the crowd at half-time. Well done to the players, organisers and parents who supported the seniors with this great display of ability and club spirit - well done!more

LIONS GUARD OF HONOUR

On Tuesday 11 June Claye Beams and Pearce Hanley attended training and signed autographs for the junior players. The Lions players also selected five players to represent the club in the guard of honour prior to the round 13 game on 23 June. The lucky players selected were:
Luke Thompson, Tevita Chan, Jackson Crook, Sam Johnstone and Riley McNaughton. Congratulations boys!more

Umpire Appreciation Round

Umpire appreciation round this weekend. We encourage all umpires, coaches and players to wear green tape on their right arm or on their boots in recognition of the great work our young umpires do. This weekend's under 9s game was an example of great umpiring. Many thanks goes to Brad Nuttall for his efforts this week.more
