Updated 2014 Club President Message
Members and Supporters of the Mighty Bangor Tigers,
I just wanted to give you an update on our registration activities and results for the 2014 season. As you know, we had our Registration Weekend at Menai Market Place on 1 and 2 February where the Committee got to meet quite a few of our returning players and some new players as well. As you may be aware, the AFL has introduced ‘on-line’ registrations this year so quite a few players, both returning players and new players, have taken advantage of this new method rather than the ‘traditional’ method at Menai Market Place - which is great. One issue with the on-line registration is that you can’t pay your registration fees on-line (even though the AFL website says you can) but this isn’t a problem as we will have a few opportunities to pay your registration fees such as the Swan’s visit on 4 March (details will be on the website closer to the day) or the uniform nights for each team (again details will be on the website closer to the dates for each team). As advised previously, the registration fees for 2014 are the same as for 2013 and represent real value, particularly noting that fees for this year include a Bangor Tigers Hoodie.
While our numbers are up in the younger age groups, unfortunately our numbers in some of the older age groups are a little down on last year so we need all players who are returning for 2014 to complete their on-line registration as soon as possible. As mentioned, you can register on-line now and pay later so please register if you are returning in 2014. If you aren’t returning, for whatever reason, can you also please let me know as the Committee needs to be advising the AFL in the next few weeks on what teams we will be fielding this year.
At this stage, we are looking good for Auskick, U9s, U10s, U11s and U17s and we are confident of numbers for the U12s, U13s and U14s, noting we may need to combine some age groups as we did last year, but we really need some more players in the U15s.
If we can’t get sufficient players for the U15s, the Committee will need to look at options for the U15s such as a joint venture with Heathcote Hawks. Our aim is to allow as many players as possible to play AFL with the Bangor Tigers so the Committee and I would like your support to see if we can get some more players in this age group.
As you can see, your Committee has some important decisions to make over the next few weeks so please either register on-line through the Bangor Tigers Web Page or let me know if you won’t be returning so we can plan our 2014 season with confidence.
Thanks for your on-going support of our Club and lets have a great season of footy.
