for Male Junior Sporting Team of the Year to be presented at Club Menai

AFL NSW ACT - FOOTY SCHOOL

How can you improve your footy skills?

Join a unique program that will develop your AFL skills during the off season under the guidance of some of the region’s best coaches.

Receive individual coaching over five sessions on specific areas of the game to improve your skills for season 2015 and beyond. Have your skills and techniques analysed by our professionals and receive specific advice on areas for improvement. Football coaching experts will guide you towards improving your game in key areas:

MARKING AND BODY POSITIONING – being able to create space to take marks or win contested ball is imperative in today’s game.

KICKING - a technique based training program that follows a template set out by a biomechanical analysis so that each individual can become an elite kick.

BALL HANDLING AND GAME SENSE – One touch skills is one the most important aspect of being an elite AFL player.  

CORE STABILITY/CONDITIONING – Speed is vital in the game of AFL. Gain strategies to improve your speed. Coaches will also work on core strength and stamina.

Participants: Aged 11-16

Starts: Wednesday 22 October 2014. Program runs for 5 weeks, concluding Wednesday 19 November (we will add a week on if we lose any to wet weather)

Where: Waratah Oval No.4, Rawson Ave, Sutherland.

Time: 5:00pm-6:00pm

Cost: $100 includes all 5 sessions (Special Offer: Sherrin Footballs for sale size 4 $60 and full size $70, only available to Footy School participants). This is about half price to what you would pay in a sports store.

2015 AFL SYDNEY COMBINE

The AFL Sydney /Illawarra Development team would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in the 2015 AFL Sydney Combine.

Players will be tested using Combine Camp methods (beep test, agility test, height and weight, core strength evaluation, vertical jump and 20m sprint etc). Players will also be assessed on their skill level, Kicking and Handballing (left and right sides).

We will be utilising the latest AFL protocols and methods for our skill and fitness testing. You will receive a report of your results on the final day of the camp.

The combine will run for two days in total at Waratah Oval Number 4 also known as Lincoln Oval, (Rawson Ave, Sutherland , across from Loftus TAFE).

Representatives from the AFL Talented Player Program and Swans and GIANTS Academies will be present to assist, and also view players as they are tested.

Players will also receive information sessions in line with the AFL Academies curriculum (nutrition etc.), as well as sessions from other guest presenters.

Female participants will be tested specific to their gender and an information session will be conducted by Libby Sadler, AFL Female Football Manager.

* The cost of the Combine Camp will be $130.00 inclusive of for both days. (there is a $20.00 discount for those who register before November 30th 2014) Payable by CASH OR CHEQUE on the first day.

Date:     Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st January, 2015

Venue:   Waratah Number 4 Oval, also known as Lincoln Oval            

                Rawson Pde. Sutherland (opposite Loftus Tafe)

Time:       9.30am – 2.30pm

(First day start 9.00am to facilitate registration and payment)

Lunch will be provided each day (chicken or ham salad roll, fruit and water), however it is strongly recommended that players bring extra drinks and snacks. (Special dietary requirements should be highlighted prior to the day)

Please complete the risk waiver form attached and bring it with you on the first day of the Combine, along with payment in cash or cheque, made payable to AFL NSW/ACT. (THERE ARE NO EFTPOS OR CREDIT CARD FACILITIES AVAILABLE)

 Your Old Boots

Another season is over… possibly another pair of boots that don’t fit.

Just reminding all Tigers players about Boots 4 Africa.

Last year, by donating our old boots, we were able to help Boots 4 Africa give under privileged kids in Africa a chance to strap on a pair of boots and play footy.

All year we have had the box in the club house where you can leave your boots.

Please if you have any old boots please get them to your coach or even better bring them to Presentation day.

Let’s give all kids a chance to wear a pair of Footy boots.

 Wet Weather

Please ring the Sutherland Councils wet weather line on 9710 0105 to see if the ground is open or closed unless otherwise advised by your team coach.

 

 Match Day Medical Assistance 

 We, as a club, are required by the AFL 2014 AFLGSJ rules & bylaws to have in place for Bangor Tigers every home game.

  We need to have these people in place prior to match day.

  People who have a current First Aid Certificate or/and Emergency Management procedures and response.

  For ages Auskick to U/12 people/persons who have a current First Aid Certificate.

  For ages U/13 thru U/17 person/persons who have

First Aid Certificate AND Emergency Management procedures and response.

  The following automatically qualify for both levels (Nurse, Physiotherapist, A certified Sports Trainer St John Officer Paramedic or Doctor).

  On game day please make yourself known to the game day ground manager wearing the orange vest before the start of the game.  

The Club Committee will sponsor any person wanting to complete the required First Aid Certificate and ERC course.
