TOP BREAKER IN HIS 100TH GAME (Plus Match reports)

Coolum Beach’s Under 16 star wingman Callum Hewitt played his 100th game for the Breakers on the weekend in front of his home crowd against the visiting Glasshouse Hinterland side.  Proud parents Barry and Megan were there to watch Callum and his Under 16 team mates perform brilliantly on the day celebrating the milestone game with a solid victory against a depleted Glasshouse team.  The game was a very hard fought game played in great spirit from both sides with many of the Coolum boys also filling in for Glasshouse during the game conducting themselves with great sportsmanship.  Breakers gun full forward Luke Ainsworth was injured during the game but his recovery is going well and the Breakers wish Luke all the best.  With hard work and discipline the Under 16 Coolum side can look forward to finals football in 2012 but it won’t come easy and the boys will need to stick together with coach Craig Trahar and the other coaches.

Coolum Blue played a very inform Pomona on a glorious Sunday tailor made for a fast flowing game with both teams ready to go from the first whistle. All players showed that hard work put in at training has started to pay off with everyone getting many touches throughout the match. Carter, Declan, Rory and Tanner showing skill and great running pumping the ball into the forwards multiple times. Kahn, Andrew and Zac provided solid defence and run out of the backs limiting scoring potential for Pomona. Special mention goes to Faith, Payton and Max showing plenty of courage and persistence well above their size and age. A great game was had by everyone. Thanks to all the parents for your support and help.

Coolum Red were also at Pomona to take on North Shore. With blue skies and a muddy ground what more could an under 10 footballer want? Coolum Red played some top class team footy. It was great to watch them handballing and passing to teammates in better positions. Coolum Red were a couple short so thanks to Tanner, Declan and Carter for filling in. Jye was captain for the day and led the team well with a few goals and plenty of the footy. Caleb is showing he's picking up the new game well. Jake, Jack and Jarrod were all amongst the goals. Jacob and Rory got plenty of possessions and Josh C. took the mark of the day, a beautiful overhead one hand pluck. Mysty was in great form with lots of the footy and Braydn continues to be a top performer. Well done boys on a great team effort.

Coolum Red stunned their Pomona opponents in the opening seconds of the game with Mick tapping the ball to Josh who kicked it forward to Isaac and Connery booted the goal.  Cassandra, Noah and James would not let anything past them giving their Coolum team plenty of goal scoring opportunities.  Hudson has become a real ball getter.  It’s still early in the season but this team is already a terrific team unit that is really enjoying their football.  Coolum Blue played North Shore is a tight contest that showed off the abilities from both teams.  At one stage Coolum Blue moved the ball through the centre of the ground using a chain of handball that started with Aidan who gave it to Noah who passed it onto Lachie Saw in what was the highlight of the game.  Cassandra showed her skills by baulking her opponent in the goal square and kicking a goal.  Lachie H. and Oscar are now getting plenty of the footy and Elijah is dominating in his second year of AFL.  Logan was playing like he was running around on burs with no shoes on and Aaron was always at the ball and playing quality Breakers football.
