Round 5 Mordialloc/Braeside White VS Northvale

This week we came up against Mordi/Braeside White for the second time in 2 weeks.

This week’s results didn’t pan out like last week though. Sunday started out as a nice relaxing morning inside for Mothers Day but outside the weather wasn’t quite as kind and the morning started for us as a rush to make a team of 18. Our game started at 11:45am which im sure all the mum’s appreciated the sleep in for a change, it was an overcast day with rain pelting down early in the day we were hoping it would hold off for our game, we had a great combination of boys take the field, the boys started the game with great confidence taking control of the ball to their advantage early kicking 3 goals 1 to Mordi/Brae 1 goal.

Starting the second quarter was a bit different with Mordi/Brae coming out after quarter time firing by kicking 2 goals 3 points while holding our boys scoreless in that term the rain came bucketing down during the quarter while everyone scrambled around to stay dry the boys kept going the best they could being wet and muddy. The boys fought hard in the first half. Half time came along, much relief to some of the boys I think who were wet and cold, we took the boys to the rooms to have some oranges and a rest while our wonderful trainer Cheryl went around and dried the boys with a towel and wiped the mud from their faces and hands.

Half Time scores were  ;   Mordi/Brae 3 - 3 - 21

                                                       To

                                           Northvale 3 - 1 - 19.

Northvale came out ready for the third quarter a bit more rejuvenated and drier they played a fantastic quarter scoring a great goal and holding the opposition to 1 point. Was great to see the defence from both sides and the attack and determination to get the wet ball.

The fourth quarter was a great battle from everyone with many scoring opportunities our boys started the quarter off hard and fast paced winning the ball contests but soon ran out of a bit of steam as some first year boys played their first full 4 quarter game, as the game went on the lack of rests for our boys started to show as Mordi/Braeside started to score and run away with the game, to the credit of the boys they ran the game out to the best of there ability and were unable to come away with a win, but should very proud like we are of how much of an effort, team work and encouragement they all put in during the game. It was great to watch the boys come together as a group and work as one.

The final scores were;   Mordi/Brae 5 - 9 – 39

                                                     To

                                         Northvale   5 - 2 - 32

Finally I would just like to say from myself and Rachel it’s a pleasure watching the boys growing as a team and seeing the friendships they are building in the team.

And to all the parents a big thank you for all the help so far this year very appreciated and grateful for all the support..
