Round 5 - Netball Notes

U-13's:

Fish Creek 10 d I.K. 9:

We got off to a great start with some great passages of play, fantastic movement and intercepts throughout the court, then we started making silly mistakes which nearly cost us the game.
There are still lots of areas for improvement but plenty of positives going forward.
Let's make a real strong effort at training this week on our game plays and be all fired up for Phillip Island.

What a fantastic 4qtr performance today.  It was fantastic to see that the various combinations on the court all were successful.  As individual players and as a team you all worked hard both in attack and defence.  The mid court worked very hard to keep possession, lots of pressure on the ball, resulting in turnovers.
It was great to see that team spirit and determination back in you all, now let's carry this intensity to our game against Phillip Island.

The girls worked really hard today to get a good win.  IK made us work hard in attack to get a shot on goal.  It was great to see we were able to re-offer our leads to ensure we maintained possession.  The defense once again came up against some strong, taller opposition and worked together to put pressure on IK's attack.  We had great drive from the centre court with beautiful feeds into the goalies.  The goalies worked hard in the ring, combining well with plenty of opportunities.  We continued to build on our lead each quarter and ran out the game well.

The first quarter was very cluttered at times but with more court, no one holidaying or injured, we may just work it out. For the most we played a good team game, backing up each other as it should be as one team. a few wayward passes, some held too long and some not long enough cost at times, but in the last we matched them- great work.

What a game to watch! Fishy kicked off with a flying start, great defence on I.K's centre passes and turn overs in their goal ring. We started to hit a bit of a lull in the last half of the 2nd Q but were still up by 7 goals at half time. Coming into the 3/4 quarter the girls got pretty physical and I.K come back with the score FCk 35-36 IK. Intense final quarter; Fishy kept fighting 3 goals down with 5mins to go; Even scores in the final 2mins and we managed to beat I.K by 1 goal! Excellent come back Creek!

Well done, it was a close game all the way through, but in the end we won by 12 goals. Everyone made great position and the ball was moving down the court nicely. The defence worked hard all game, putting great pressure on the ball. Goalers worked hard, moving and adjusting well. It was fantastic to see so many intercepts, making them count on the scoreboard.

Fishy Pub - Marsha Livingstone

Evans Petroleum - Elysia Shaw
