Round 1 - April 6th - Kyneton V Gisborne
Under 18 Report
Gisborne 18's started their 2013 campaign with a solid win over Kyneton. The outfit looked slick all day and albeit for a few lapses where our boys showed no respect for them were relentless with their plan. A polished on ball divison of Govan, Rodgers, Wood & Scales continuously sent the ball forward to give forwards McKenna, Bond and Lamplugh first use and they did not let their team mates down, kicking 6, 2 and 5 respectively. Tom Wood also showed fantastic finishing skills up forward whilst kicking 2 goals himself.
The young Dogs were able to demonstrate the benefits of a good solid summer campaign and the rotations that Nico and Woody installed were enough to keep the Tigers players quessing all day. Jack James was a welcomed addition to the line up after being released from the Calder Cannons Squad and showed great ability to rebound the ball off half back and send it deep into the Gisborne forward zone, whislt Pat Trotta showed he is a sound decision maker down back with exceptional skills by foot.
Final Score: Gisborne 20 - 16 136 defeated Kyneton 6 - 5 41
Better players: Pat McKenna, Jack James, Pat Trotta, Jimmy O'Hare, Tom Wood and Brody Lumplugh
The coaches and committee would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new Gisborne 18's boys and their families. We look forward to your support during the year and we will see you at the game.
