Congratulations to Tyntynder Football Netball Club's Roey Bice who was one of three finalists in the Victorian Government's 2011 Community Sport and Recreation "Senior Sportsperson of the Year" award. Roey's amazing contribution to Netball both at club and league level is well documented, and while she didnt take out the main award, her incredible achievements were acknowledged in front of a large crowd at the MCG last night. Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Deluhunty MP presented awards across nine catagories and spoke of the "significant contributions made by Victorians in shaping the Community Sport & Recreation landscape". MC Ian Cover (Coodabeen Champions) and talented music group "Tripod" entertained the crowd and contributed to what was a wonderful evening. Many thanks to Mick Coyne, the judges and award sponsors, and congratulations to winners, finalists and nominees.

By displaying the "Good Sports" logo the TFNC sends an important message to club members and the community. It confirms that the club promotes a responsible attitude towards alcohol and that it provided a safe environment for players, members, families and supporters.
Members, supporters and players are encouraged to obtain Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)accreditation - see attached flier for more details

Well done to our Seconds Team who put up a gutsy fight against a Tooley / Manang team who were just too big and too strong. Disappointing as the reality is, Barry's Boys can be proud of the effort they put in yesterday. Thanks to Barry, Frosty, Mazz, Brendan, Margy, Cookie, Zac, Rod, Duffman and their team for getting the Dogs to the 2011 Grand Final. Well done to Tooleybuc Manangatang on their win.

Senior coach Simon Bunyan last night announced his intention to remain at the helm of the TFNC Senior list for the upcoming 2012 season. A large crowd gathered upstairs in a show of support for our netballers and the Reserves Football Team prior to the Grand Final on Saturday, and a huge round of applause greated the announcement of Simon's intention to lead the Club next year. An exciting, disciplined and tough midfielder who leads by example Simon's return will provide the club with continued stability and strong leadership. Simon was the very derserving recipient of the "CMFL Senior Coach of the Year" this week, and we are also extremely pleased to welcome back Sarah, Pat and Sharon. Go Dogs!

Well done to Barry and the Tyntynder Football Netball Club Reserves on their convincing 28 point win over a determined Woorinen. Our Ressies will take on Tooley / Manang next Saturday in the CMFNL Grand Final. Go Dogs!!
The Dogs Reserves will have to regroup and re - organise themselves after a less that desirable performance against the Saints in the Second Semi final. The Saints handled the windy conditions far better, and generally played the Greenham Park ovel much better than the Dogs.
A poor opening term with just three goals to show after kicking with a five goal breeze was never going to be enough. The final margin blew out and the Saints kicked away with the wind in the final term. Better performers on a dismal day included Brenton Rowe, Dylan Ward, Shannon Dixon, Corey Frost , Zane "Bomber" Hunt, "Snooze" Brasser, Matt Osberger, Bryce Delmenico and Charles Shaw (first half).
Next week sees us play the winner of the Raiders and Tigers. Go hard Dogs!
Congratulations to sisters Margy Devereux and Jen Gilbert who were both awarded Life Membership of the Tyntynder Junior Football Club at the annual junior vote count on Sunday night. Well done to Simon and the Senior team as they took on the top placed Saints in a finals like atmosphere for what was billed as the clash of the round - first place vs second. To the Dogs credit they played hard and accountable footy - the end result being a nail biting draw. Inaccurate kicking for goal was a problem for the Dogs and one that will need to be worked on before finals.

The Dogs backed up their impressive season opening with a hard fought victory over the "Roos". The trip to Greenham Park is generally a "tough gig" and on Saturday this was again the case. The seniors with "Bunny" running hot, built on a handy first quarter lead to have the game in their keeping at the main break. The 'Roos had a red hot go in the third term, but by games end it was a 10 goal win.
The Reserves were caught napping early on, and playing catch up footy is not the best way to operate. There were plenty of "goers" in the physical clash, but they fell short. Coach 'Barry" has some "ammo" to fire at them during the week. The 'Colts" were never troubled against an under strength Balranald unit, but still put together 4 good quarters.
The juniors won across all football grades in fine conditions - a bit different from the "mud bath" they played in last season. Well done Dogs.
Thinking pink was the order of the day as the club travelled to Balranald for the Worksafe VCFL "Pink Footy & Netball Day" (Mother's Day weekend). Now in it's third year, the campaign aims to raise awareness of, and support the families of those diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
"Our clubs and associations provide a very important network of support in these times. Looking after your mates is one of the mantras of community sport and it is no more pertinent when ill health is concerned"( Glen Scott, CEO WorkSafe VCFL).
Our junior footballers, Colts, Reserves and Senior Team wore pink arm bands on the day to do their bit to raise awareness of Breast Cancer....well done boys.

TFNC - "looking after the kids"
Saturday saw a welcome return to the 2011 Netball season. A weekly round up of Tyntynder netball games, results and awards can be found under "more menus"on the orange "toolbar" at the top of screen, then by clicking on 'Netball News". Good luck to all grades. "One Club, One Direction"
A huge thank you to out canteen co ordinators Dawn, Robyn, Annie and Judy for their tireless efforts in providing sustenance for match day crowds. These ladies and their volunteers (who work in shifts) to provide the homemade cakes & soup, pies, hotdogs and salad rolls that in turn contributes to the smooth running of the Tyntynder Football Netball Club. Being rostered on the canteen provides an opportunity for members of the club (junior and senior) to meet others as well as to "share the load". After the last shift of the day the ladies often enjoy a well deserved meal "upstairs" in the company of their fellow canteen workers, club members and supporters. If you haven't yet placed your name on the roster, please contact one of our co ordinators and offer your services.
"Many hands make light work"
Large crowds were on hand on Friday night ( junior football under lights) and on Saturday to watch the Anzac Day matches between Tyntynder and Woorinen. Black arm bands were worn by both football sides as a mark of respect. President of the Swan Hill RSL Barry Townley officiated over the days proceedings and was "delighted" with the turn out for the clash. "Lest we forget"

The Bulldogs aquitted themselves well in a spirited six quarter play off with 'Sister Club" and NCFL neighbours Wycheproof Narraport on Saturday. Senior coach Simon Bunyan would have been very happy with the turn out, with over 30 of the senior playing list committing to the game. Senior players were supported by a full compliment of Colts players who continue to impress "Budda" and "Bomber" with their intensity and preparedness to get into all contests - a positive sign so early in the season.

Tuesday February 22nd saw Andrology Australia Ambassador and former Test Cricketer Merv Hughes visit the TFNC to encourage local men to "talk about their tackle". The Blokes night saw a crowd of approx 170 men enjoy a free BBQ and " Boys Toys" on the Alan Garden Reserve before venturing "upstairs" to listen to Dr Virgilio Spatari ,John Evans ( Mensline Australia) and Merv himself. Information, personal stories and good humour were the flavour of the night. "Lets face it. Unless the subject is sport men aren't always the best talkers. And we really struggle when it comes to talking about reproductive health" Merv said. Merv encouraged the Blokes on the night to visit their GP if they were "having problems" with their tackle. "The longer you say nothing the less your doctor will be able to help you"
