Hawk Talk Volume 4
HAWKS NEED HURRY ALONG!
After 6 Rounds, many of the Hawks teams find themselves in precarious positions in their respective competitions.
The Seniors have been in very winnable situations in ALL of the matches played but have only 2 wins to show for all their hard work and endeavour. The boys need to start putting together four quarters of footy and finish the job off. Pricey and Hydey have been sensationally consistent and they need a few more of their teammates to GET ON BOARD!!! Today is a must win for the boys. Big welcome to BOD (Ben O’Donnell), who joined the club last week. The Reserves are battling away and have been undermanned. Knuckles has been a revelation down back and great to see Moose back in the fray. Trav continues to regain fitness and form, and the Two Nickos (Flanagan and Nixon) have been the side’s most consistent contributors. A win today will keep the boys in the hunt for a 3rd straight premiership. Both Junior football sides, the U17 and U14, are yet to register a win but continue to press and improve. Efforts in both grades were very pleasing last week and today could see them register their first points for the year. Ben Sim, until getting hurt against Numurkah, was by far the U17’s most impressive player, whilst in the U14’s, Caleb Brooks, Hary Foster and Cal Leighton-Daly, along with Lachie Wright have been leading the charge.
The netballers have fared a bit better than the footballers. A Grade remain winless and need to secure some points to boost the confidence. B Grade are starting to build a bit of momentum after a couple of pretty ordinary weeks from their standards. C Grade are right in the mix, having lost a couple of close calls over the last past fortnight. C Ressies are starting to hit a peak of fitness, which sees them being competitive. In the Juniors, the U17s and U15s are looking to secure their first points for the ’10 season, the U13s have suffered some heavy defeats after a promising start and the U12s are playing some very consistent netball to see them well entrenched in the top six. The U11’s continue to improve and their games against Cobram on the Friday nights will hold them in good stead in continuing this. All the best to all our teams and let’s support them as best we can!
