     ABOUT US

The Club was formed in 1946 and competed in the Mountain District
Football Association until 1966 when the MDFA amalgamated with the
Yarra Valley Football League to form the Yarrra Valley-Mountain
District Football & Netball League (YVMDFNL).

The founding fathers of the Club were, in the main, returned
servicemen who lived in Upwey and the adjoining township of Tecoma
(thus the name Upwey-Tecoma). They chose the tiger as the Club's emblem
and so the Club is more commonly known as the "Upwey Tigers". Our home
ground is officially called the "Alistair Gillies Oval" but everyone
knows it simply as "The Dome"

For the uninitiated, Upwey is situated some 35 kilometres east of
Melbourne, which is the capital city of the Australian state of
Victoria, and the other half of the Club's name, Tecoma, is another
couple of kilometres further east. We are a couple of the many small
townships to be found in the Dandenong Ranges, which is a popular
destination for day trippers and picnicers who are entranced by the
natural scenic beauty and the many wonderful gardens in the area.

The Club fields Senior, Reserves and Under 18 teams in the YVMDFNL
First Division and we also have a team in the Veterans
competition. We also field 4 Netball Sides. Our sister Club, the Upwey-Tecoma Junior Football Club, fields teams in the Under 10,Under 11, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16
grades of the Dandenong Ranges Junior Football League.

Oh we're from Tiger land
A fighting fury
We're from Tiger land
In any weather you'll see us with a grin
Risking head and shin
If we're behind then never mind
We'll fight and fight and win
For we're from Tiger land.

We never weaken till the final siren's gone
Like the Tiger of old
We're strong and we're bold
For we're from Tiger (yellow and black)
We're from Tiger land.
