Formed in 1990, the Hamilton Wildcats will be celebrating their 22nd year in the OAFL in Season 2012. A member Club of the Ontario Australian Football League (OAFL), the Wildcats compete against other Australian Rules Football clubs in Southern Ontario and Quebec.
In the face of increasingly tough competition, the Hamilton Wildcats has proved its mettle in the last 20+ years. Hamilton players have gone on to represent the Canadian Football team, Northwind, and play in many widely attended international series. In season 1995, the club demonstrated the game of Australian Rules Football in front of a crowd of 21,000 during a half-time break of a CFL match and has reached the final series in 1996, 2007, 2009 & 2011 after finishing 2nd in the regular season.
As a Club that values community and team spirit, the Wildcats holds several annual events including the Sponsor’s and Family Appreciation Day, the Welcome Social, and the Final Presentation Night. It is an active contributor to local food-banks in the Hamilton region and has recently launched a Social Membership option where non-playing members can participate in club events.
With the appointment of a new Board of Director’s in December, a number of fresh marketing programs and initiatives are already planned for season 2012. With pre-season training already in progress, the Club is poised for a year of continued transformation and success on and off the field.
