Blue North Result 15/12/12
The “Roos” had a long trip to Warwick to take on “THE EDDY McGUIRE’S” (Magpie’s for the uninitiated) That’s the end of my attempted humour as we could only manage 2pts.
The low lights continued from the previous week—although a slight improvementTeam Golding could only manage to win a scattered 7 ends even with a revised outfit. Some serious adjustments are needed as the combination is not working.
Team Bowen had a good tussle with team Post. Some crucial conversions from the “Postie” saw them skip away to 15—6 lead after 10 ends. After end 15 we were still trailing 21—11. The catch up began until the last end –holding 3 until the Warwick’s third put in a resting toucher. Needing a conversion Bowen trailed the “jack” back for 2. Post countered cutting to 1. Dropping short with the last bowl proves fatal ending up down by 1 at the finish.
Team Costello (minus the pink hat) took on the team Stockton. The card showed a very tight encounter 8 all after end 9 then 15 all on end 20. Picking up a hard fought 2 on the last end gave us the point. The word from the track was our L Johnson playing 3 caused “Stocky” a headache, leaving the skips to battle it out.
Team Triffit produced another strong performance overcoming a 0—7 start after 3 ends to be 10 all after end 7. They continued with the nip & tuck to be 16 all on end 14. Behind by 3 on end 16 saw the after burners kicked in and they picked up 12 shots to finish the game. The word was a “selector” was having some delivery problems only to be told to stay down on delivery by the 2nd—made a lot of difference apparently.
Overall we need to buck up & dig deep
