Blue South Result 15/12/12

So off we go to Hilton Park (who was responsible for 1Blue Sth being in this division?) with “The Scribe” reminding those on the bus where we are at, positive things not too complicated, but we still had 30k to go!!

(For those whose memories are a little hazy we discussed divisions at a pre-season meeting where it was decided to leave it up to the association to sort out what divisions we would have. Ed)

Well that worked for half of our division with Colin Johnson, Brian Miller, Steve Denny and Simon Ingram winning 21/14 as predicted last week, (but when you change the side by replacing Skipper, Third & Second you would expect an improvement) and this rink was never down and that’s one fine effort over 21 ends, well played.

Marty Nievelstein, Brian McMurdo, Dave Hutchings & Alex Smith went into to last end 1 down and produced a terrific end gaining 2 shots. There was not a lot of talking as the opposition skipper’s final bowl approached the head, massaging a passage through the shots bowls and just failing to convert. This was a great fighting win after being 1/9 after 5 ends running out winners 22/21.

Bernie McMonagle, Ron Ryan, Steve Schonell & Wes Neilson got the message (see paragraph one) and kicked off with a 4 on the first end. Never scored again for 8 ends and were down 7/20 after 14 ends. Gaining 13 shots to 6 wasn’t quite enough to get over the line losing 20/26. Playing next door to this rink all I heard was encouragement and that’s real cool in the face of adversity.

Jamie Edmonds rink of John Ingram, John Stewart and Charles Kingston were never in the hunt. JS pinched his knee early in the game and that caused a lot of grief (but tried his heart out) we were down 3/25 after 16 ends. Tough day out going down 8/28.

Comment: Some have tried to blame the green, but that is most unjust. It was true, no lumps and ran at a kind speed 14.5/15 seconds. No my friends the green had nothing to do with it, correction has!!

Next week the “quite ones” Armadale and they will be quite cocky let’s give them a nice send-off prior to Christmas. See you on the green men where correction is the order of the day.
