History

Rowville Basketball Club was formed in 1990 to offer the kids of Rowville and Lysterfield a local, community based basketball club.

We started with 5 teams and grew over the next 9 years to over 35 teams competing in the Knox Association. At this stage some of our members wanted to field teams in the Dandenong Basketball Association, so in the Summer of 2000, 5 teams began playing at Dandenong with a further 36 teams continuing to play at Knox.

Over the next 4 years the club continued to enter teams in both associations - growing to 13 teams at Dandenong and 39 at Knox by 2002, and up to 37 teams at Dandenong and roughly the same at Knox by 2004.

At this stage the club had grown to such a size that it was decided to only operate the club from one Association. At Knox there were several smaller clubs experiencing difficulty fielding teams and it was decided to merge the Knox teams from Rockets with these teams to form a new club  to be know as 'Knox Allstars'. So from the Summer Season of 2004/05 Rowville Rockets would only compete at Dandenong. Many players then made a choice as to which club they would continue to play with. Rockets entered 39 teams this season and has continued to grow since.

We now have over 80 teams entered in the Dandenong Basketball Association Junior competition and a few senior teams.
