Club Policies

                                                       

1. Safe Transport Policy 

 This policy aims to provide a basis for the responsible use and/or non use of alcohol by the Mill Park Soccer Club and to avoid any incidents as people travel to or from the club and its events.

The Club understands and accepts its responsibility to the safety of our members and friends. The following requirements will apply when alcohol is served, either at the club or during a club function.

  • Bar staff shall encourage members and visitors to make alternate safe transport arrangements if they are considered to exceed .05 blood alcohol concentration (or .00 if probationary driver)
  • Telephone calls will be made free of charge to arrange a taxi or other transport
  • Contact telephone numbers for taxi services will be clearly displayed
  • In specific cases, where a designated driver nominated by the club has accepted the responsibility to drive others home safely, the club will provide non alcoholic drinks free of charge
  • Bar servers will be provided non alcoholic drinks free of charge by the club (only for club bar staff)

 

2.Player and Parent Code of Conduct  

 Coaches and Players Code of Fair Play

• Behave and obey reasonable instructions made by coaches and administration of the Mill Park
Soccer Club.
• Never argue with a referee or assistant referee. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official on your behalf.
• Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials (and/or club officials, members, volunteers etc.) and sledging of other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in soccer.
• Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team's performance will benefit so will you.
• Be a good sport; applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the opposition.
• Treat all participants in soccer as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
• Cooperate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no game.
• Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants.
• Any fines incurred or issued by Football Federation Victoria whilst representing the club, player(s) or coach will be personally liable for the cost. This includes Red Card offences and reportable offences made by either a club official of the apposing team and/or FFV official.
• Mill Park Soccer Club expects its players and coaches to attend functions and events which enhance its reputation and continue it’s relationships within the community. Senior Players and coaches MUST make themselves available to achieve this. This includes but is not limited to, Poker Nights, Fund Raiser BBQ’s, Disco nights etc. Each senior player MUST attend at least one function other than the annual presentation night.


Penalties


In addition to any penalties assessed during the game, any violation of the above code may result in a one game suspension. A second violation may result in a three game suspension. Any additional violation may result in a possible season suspension. In the case of a one or three game suspension, the player will not
be allowed to participate in a league game, practice game or tournament game and will not be able to participate in practices during that period. In the case of drug or alcohol abuse, the player will be immediately and automatically suspended from the club. 

Coaches shall be subject to penalties as assessed and determined by the club Committee. Any violation of the above code may result in a one game suspension. A second violation will result in a suspension of their duties at the club.


Parents Code of Fair Play


• Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not only yours.
• Encourage children to participate, do not force them.
• Focus on the child's efforts and performance. Be positive at all times.
• Encourage children always to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without
resorting to hostility or violence.
• Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skilful plays by
all participants.
• Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from all soccer activities.
• Respect the decisions of officials and teach children to do likewise.
• Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child
could not participate.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person.
• Any fines incurred or issued by Football Federation Victoria whilst representing the club,
player(s) (Junior) or parent will be personally liable for the cost. This includes off-field reportable
offences made by either a club official of the apposing team and/or FFV official.
Penalties
If a parent violates any part of the code they may not be allowed to attend another game, practice,
practice game or tournament game for two weeks. In the case of subsequent violations the parent may be
subjected to further disciplinary action by the Committee, which may include a permanent ban on
attending games or suspension of the child for the parent's failure to adhere to the Code and/or comply
with the sanctions.
Club Specific:
• Behave in a manner acceptable to the club at all times. You are ambassadors for the Mill Park
Soccer Club both at home and on your travels.
• Treat the coach and managers with courtesy and accept their decision making and do not interfere
with training or match day games.
• Any concerns or issues should be directed to the team manager or to the committee.
• Pay registration fees by the due date. If there are financial circumstances speak to your team
manager or committee to work out an arrangement.
• Anyone wishing to be a member of the Mill Park Soccer Club has to abide the rules of the club and member, player and club committee code of conduct. All members will make themselves available to assist the club at least once in the calendar year if called upon for volunteering duties.
• Ring coach or team manager if player is unable to play or attend training.

 

3. Smoke Free Policy


The Mill Park Soccer Club recognises that passive smoking is hazardous to health and those non smoking club members and visitors have the right to be protected from exposure to tobacco smoke. Accordingly, the following policy shall apply to all club facilities, functions, meetings and activities undertaken by the club and will apply to all members, officials, players and club visitors.


All club facilities are to be completely smoke free


• The social rooms inclusive of bar, kitchen, meeting room, toilets and storage area
• Player change rooms inclusive of warm up area, toilets and showers, medical
room and property room
Cigarettes will not be sold (including vending machines) at any time at or by any club Players, Officials or Coaches. In addition, coaches, players, trainers, volunteers and officials will attempt to refrain from smoking, and remain smoke free while involved in an official junior and senior capacity for the club, on and off the field.

No Smoking At Club Functions


All club functions including social and fund raising events and meetings are to be
completely smoke free:
• Ashtrays will be removed from all club facilities.
• Cigarette butt bins will be provided at outdoor locations for smokers to dispose of
cigarette butts before entering/ re-entering smoke free areas at club facilities
• Smokers leaving the designated licensed area of the clubs social rooms will not be
permitted to take alcohol from that area
Non-compliance
All club committee members will enforce the smoke free policy and any non-compliance
will be handled according to the following process:
• Explanation of the club policy to the person/people concerned, including
identification of the areas in which smoking is permitted
• Continued non-compliance with the policy should be handled by at least two
committee members who will use their discretion as to the action taken, which
may include asking the person/ people to leave the club facilities or function
The club recognises the importance of educating club members, particularly players and the benefits of implementing a smoke free policy and will endeavour to provide
information to assist this process.
The club will actively participate in the Australian Drug Foundation Good Sports program with an ongoing priority to maintain Good Sports accreditation.
