Positions Available

Positions Vacant – Contributors Wanted, Development Opportunities

With the new season getting closer the club is now seeking to fill a range of roles at both club and team level –club committee, assistant coaching, team management, assistant referee, ground marshal and first aid roles are all available - and have to be filled for our teams to operate effectively.

As a volunteer-based community club we know that many hands really do make light work.

The club will provide support, training and recognition for all our volunteers, so get involved. It won’t take up too much time and it’s worth it.

How about five good reasons to volunteer………..

  1. Help things be done better – we all either complain about things from time to time or reckon we can do them better – okay, so get on board and do something about it
  2. Help your kids and their friends - yes, it really is all about the kids and if you want them and their friends to have the best experience, then pitch in
  3. Use your skills – everyone has skills that they can apply to getting things done – use yours
  4. Develop your skills – volunteer roles are often excellent opportunities to develop skills that can help your career or life away from football
  5. Time to pay it back – not to guilt trip you too much but if you or your child has benefited from the time and effort of other volunteers coaches, managers, committee members in the past (and who hasn’t) then

And a sixth reason….   You will enjoy it! Knowing you have helped, experiencing football in a deeper way, working with other people and learning new things.

Committee opportunities

While the Committee has the basics covered we want to go above and beyond and that requires some extra personnel.

We have two particular vacancies on the overall club Committee that we would like to fill as soon as possible.

Assistant Treasurer who will help our Treasurer manage the “money in” side of things, including follow-up of payments and monitoring of fundraising/sales. This is a good role for a person with some understanding of book keeping/accounting/finance

Assistant Secretary (Registrar) who will help our Secretary follow -up player registrations and help liaise with the Team Managers. This is a good role for an organised person interested in understanding sports administration at club level.

Committee meetings will be held weekly in the pre-season period and monthly thereafter.

And remember that being involved on the Committee lets you help shape the direction of the club.

We are looking for people with a range of skills who could assist on a short-term, specific basis to plan and deliver a project on such things as merchandise/apparel, social media, sponsorship, fundraising, social events, school liaison, Melbourne Victory liaison. Or you may have a project that you think would really help the club. Tell us about it.

Assistant coaches are required for most teams and parents are encouraged to volunteer if their team does not yet have an assistant coach.

The club will pay for the relevant coaching course for all coaches and assistant coaches.

Please go to your team coach to discuss the opportunity

2              Team Managers

The Team Manager is a vital role for each team.

The Team Manager is the key liaison between the team and the club on all administrative matters and between parents and coach on team operations.

The Team Manager needs to attend all matches, many training sessions and occasional meetings with club administrators.

In addition there is administrative work before, during and after matches including team email notifications, checking for uniform clashes, organising the oranges/snakes roster, preparation of the match book and post-match results entry.

The club provides Team managers with a Manual and online information to assist in undertaking the role. The coach gives thanks. And the team gives lots of love.

Check with your team coach if you think you can help.

3              Assistant Referees

Every team from Under 12 up needs to have at least one person, preferably more, who is capable of undertaking the assistant referee duties at each match. Ideally this person would also be able to step in if there is no official referee at a particular match.

The time commitment for this role is attendance at the club Assistant Referees training session, undertaking the free online referees course and going to the match you were going to go to anyway.

4              Ground Marshalls

Every team from Under 12 up needs to have at least one person to act as a Ground Marshal at each match (two marshals for senior men).

Ground Marshals must be at least 18 years old. Their main job is to escort the Match Official(s) to and from the change rooms and the Field of Play and generally keep watch on the club spectators to ensure appropriate behaviour.

Given that we are generally a well-behaved club this role is not too onerous. We will provided you with information on the marshal role and a highly attractive fluoro uniform. You just need to come to the match you were going to be at anyway, keep an on things and occasionally be a calming influence.

5              First Aiders

We are aiming to achieve best practice by having a qualified first aider at each match played by our teams.

To help us get closer to this aim we are keen that any parents or players who have completed a first aid course, or Sports Trainer Course or other medical qualification who can act as the team first aid person.
