Ingham  Football Club Inc
Providing the very best in junior / senior competition & social Football

 CLUB PROFILE

Club History

Ingham Football has been in existence since its incorporation in August 2007 when both the Herbert River Junior Soccer Association and the Herbert Valley Senior Soccer Club united under the one banner. However, prior to this the two bodies enjoyed a long association in the Ingham region and North Queensland football in general.

HRJSA has a long and impressive history dating back to the 1970’s while the senior wing can trace its origins back to the early 1940’s and the glory days of the Roma Soccer Club.

To this day as Ingham Football the Club continues to be active in all grades in the northern football.

Club Participation in the North Queensland  11-side Competition:

Combining the very best in competition and social football Ingham FC is the main amateur body for Ingham and surrounding regions of the Hinchinbrook Shire.

In 2013 the Club has nominated 10 teams to participate on a weekly basis in varying divisions in the Nth Qld Football 11-side competition. With no 11-side competition available locally the Club travels to Townsville most weekends to participate in this northern based league which draws teams from the Burdekin, Townsville, Charters Towers and Ingham regions. Consequently the Club’s participation involves considerable travel.

The rotation for 2013 is on a similar basis to last year with most games played on a home and away basis.
By being able to participate in a competition of this size it provides tremendous opportunities not only for the development of the players but also for the Club as a whole.   It provides learning opportunities and access to skills training that would otherwise be unavailable at a local level.  It also enables players to broaden their horizons by being able to play against a wider selection of players and at the same time tap into skills resources that are more readily available to their city counterparts.  This in turn raises the standard of the competition and has the added benefit of allowing players to vie for selection at a regional representative level.

Junior 11-side Teams in the Nth Qld. Competition

In order to guarantee the continuity of any Club it is necessary to have a solid program in place for the junior base. Ingham FC’s format is primarily structured to introduce these budding players to football and as well as ensuing player and skills development it also aims to foster enjoyment of the game in general.

In 2011 the junior base of the club was awarded the prestigious Carmichael Ford Champion Club Award.  This was the first time in the perpetual trophy’s 25 year history that the honor has been afforded to a club outside of Townsville and was worthy recognition of Ingham FC’s outstanding junior-based participation during that season.

2013 has seen three (3) junior teams heading to Townsville to participate in the competition in divisions U12, U14, & U16.  Last year several other age groupings also represented Ingham FC at various carnivals throughout the region,  ranging from the Under-6’s through to the U-16’s and no doubt this will be replicated again this year.

Junior Carnivals

In addition to playing on a Friday night Ingham FC is aiming to encourage and assist players from each age group to participate in Carnivals - whether in Townsville, Burdekin, Mackay or Innisfail to the north  - as may interest them plus of course the parents who would be driving.

Regular coaching can only improve the skills of the club’s young players and what better way to experience the improvement and camaraderie of playing as a team than by representing Ingham FC at a carnival. The children will remember these types of experiences for a long time.

There are numerous carnivals throughout the season for each age group and as carnival information comes to hand  it will be passed on to the coaches of each age group to gauge interest.

Nth Qld Colts & Fillies – Under-18 Youth Competition:

Colts
2004 saw Ingham Football re-enter this competition after an absence of several years. This division focuses solely on the 14-17 years age group and is aimed at furthering youth development and enjoyment of football in
general.  It also provides the pathway for the junior players to progress through the Club’s ranks to the senior teams.

There is a lot of talent on the local scene at the moment and this competition provides the opportunity for these players to be nurtured and develop into the Club’s premier players of the future.  Last season the team performed extremely well and is aiming to again be an integral part of the 2013 northern competition.

Fillies
Run on similar lines to the above Colts league, Ingham FC entered the Fillies division for the first time in 2009 as the scope was there for Ingham to field two ladies teams –one comprising the more experienced players who would contest the women’s competition while the second consist of younger players aged 14-17 who compete in the Fillies division.

The team’s inception has proved to be a positive move for the Club as the Fillies, in their inaugural year, went on to win both the Nth Queenland premiership and Crad Evans Championships.

Nth Qld Women’s Premier League:
With women’s football on the increase the northern ladies competition has gone from strength to strength and Ingham Football’s participation has been no exception.  Past seasons have seen many talented local ladies travel to Townsville in order to participate but the team’s formation in 2005 has provided a tremendous boost for the development of women’s football enabling them  to play for their home town.

Their inclusion has proved to be an outstanding success and since their inclusion in the league the side has progressed to five straight NQ grand finals – a truly remarkable feat for such a young side.

North Queenslad Premier League comprising Premier, Premier Reserves & 2nd Division:
For Ingham FC the senior men’s competition currently incorporates three teams – Premier,  Premier Reserve and Second divisions.   Ingham Football is now a recognized Premier League Club and has worked extremely hard to gain this distinction.  New programs introduced last season saw an increase in player participation and subsequently an improvement in all aspects of the game.

With an NPL team now based in Townsville, the way is clear for players to advance through the premier ranks on to higher representative honors. Interest in the game of football is subsequently at an all time high and the exposure generated for the teams will be enormous.

SUMMER SOCIAL 6-SIDE COMP. ATTACHED TO THE CLUB

This Ingham-based social competition is played for ten months of the year, with the junior brigade meeting each Friday evening from March through to September, while the senior contingent commence in August and runs until mid-December. Being a rural area this popular sport provides a valuable outlet for both the young and older members of the community and caters for ages from 5years through to 40+.

 General Summary

Ingham is located in a rural area just over an hour’s drive north of Townsville.  Last season saw many changes in the advancement of the sport and this has not only been a tremendous boost to football but has also laid the ground work for Ingham FC to go on to bigger and better things in 2013.
