The Fiona Winer Realty Noosa Tigers took on Caboolture in the second last game of the 2014 home and away season at Weyba Rd. Ex Richmond champion Tony Jewel was on hand to talk to the crowd at the Presidents Lunch and Champion on baller Caleb "Cubby" Isles was playing his 150th senior game.
Noosa made 2 changes from last weeks great win over Kedron. Seb Rogers was out due to school commitments and was replaced by Dylan Dempsey and Harry Opie was a late withdrawal due to a hamstring and Isaac Hughson came in after a getting over his hamstring injury.
As the senior team ran onto the ground the heavens opened up and made conditions very difficult. Caboolture jumped Noosa in the opening minutes and scored the first goal but from then on it was all Noosa. Brett Duke kicked the Tigers first and second goal as the Tigers took full control of the game. Sam Dwyer and Shane Davis were good in the midfield as Noosa slammed on 7 straight goals to finish the quarter with a huge 37 point lead. Noosa 7-1-43 to Caboolture 1-0-6
The rain continued to fall during the second term as the ball spent a lot of time on the ground. Caboolture lifted the tempo in the quarter and kicked 3 goals and restricted Noosa to 5. Dylan Dempsey was working hard across the middle and James Gellie was strong in the contests up forward. Gary Wallace and Ryley Buntain were excellent in the back six, their run and creativity were great to watch. Noosa were untidy in front of goal during the the quarter kicked 5 goals and 7 behinds to take a 55 point lead in the main break. Noosa 12-8-80 Caboolture 4-1-25.
The rain eased off a little but was still falling as the third term got under way. Jesse Malthouse was great in the second half and his skills were terrific considering the wet and heavy ball. Isaac Hughson worked hard to get front and centre and rewarded himself with a great crumbing goal. Unfortunately this was the only goal kicked in the quarter as Noosa kept Caboolture scoreless but only managed one goal themselves. Noosa did mange to add another 7 behinds to the score and went into the 3/4 time break with a 68 point lead. Noosa 13-15-93 to Caboolture 4-1-25
The lights were switched on for the last term as the rain continued and Noosa took it to another level. Peter Trompf worked hard in the ruck and Jed Mullen continued his hard running from the back line. Nathan Winter continued his good form as the small forward and Cubby Isles was outstanding again in his 150th game. Noosa slammed on 9 goals to 1 in the final term to run out 121 point winners. Noosa 22-20-152 defeated Caboolture 5-1-31

Noosa goals - James Gellie 7, Brett Duke 3, Isaac Hughson 3, Nathan Winter 3, Caleb Isles 1, Dylan Murray 1, Dan Pertot 1, Jesse Malthouse 1, Peter Trompf 1, Dylan Dempsey 1
The reserves had a huge 156 point win in the early game. Noosa 24-24-168 def Caboolture 2-0-12. Jake Fulton was named BOG for the second week running and may be a chance for a senior recall soon. Kane Grace finished with 6 and Zac McDonald booted 5.
The colts put a huge fight only to be overrun in the last quarter to go down by 24 points. Corey Boardman played another great game for Noosa. This has now finished the season for the Colts, a big thank you goes out to Dan Primmer and the lads as the worked hard all year and stuck it out to the end. Well done Dan on a great job.
Next week sees the PJ Burns Noosa Tigers take on old rivals Maroochydore in the last game of the home and away season at Fishermans Rd. This won't have a bearing on the final placings as Noosa are cemented in 2nd place and Maroochydore ere stuck in 4th, but it does have bragging rights attached and these 2 may play finals against each other in the coming weeks. From all reports Noosa will be at full strength for the first time this year, and, leading into the finals, this is a great place to be.
The reserves situation is a bit more interesting. Noosa reserves are currently sitting 3rd and Maroochydore are 2nd. Noosa reserves must win to seal 3rd spot and the double chance. It may pay to get to Fishermans Road early to see a cracking game.
See you next week.
