The Rococo Bistro Noosa Seniors went down by 4 points to 2016 giant killers Aspley at Weyba Rd last Saturday.
Poor kicking for goal was the major reason behind the loss for Noosa however the first half dominance of the swarming Hornets could not be understated. Aspleys' young and exuberant small brigade were all over the favoured Tigers with only stalwarts BrettDuke, Cubby Isles and Co-captain Nick Hill standouts as Noosa went into half time 28 points in arrears.
The Tigers third stanza was just outstanding, again through the dominance of Duke and Hill but in particular the influence of champion rover Isles who continually racked up possessions and sent the Noosa side forward. Up forward it was coach Sam Faure who kicked 3 goals in the premiership quarter to relieve the margin back to 3 points at the last break.
The home Tiger crowd were more than excited as visions of their troops consolidating their second position on the QFA north division ladder seemed likely, however 2 quick goals to the Hornets extinguished some of that belief as the game turned into a thrilling arm wrestle. The last ten minutes was played in Noosa’s fifty metre arc. However missed opportunities to win the game continued to plague the Tigers who finished 4 points behind at the final siren having had significant more scoring opportunities.
All credit to Aspley who more than deserved their victory and remain fourth on the ladder heading into a competition bye this weekend. For the Tigers no one was better than Brett Duke whose stellar four quarter effort in the ruck was a highlight. His dual premiership teammate Cubby Isles continues to defy his ageing body with his competitiveness and willingness to run whilst skipper Nick Hill was in everything the entire day also. Coach Samy Faure booted 5 goals in a Masterclass performance up forward where nobody else could convert whilst the defensive efforts of the very consistent Jack Tickner and Bushy Copeland are more than deserving of mention.
16 year debutant Reid Gordon’s efforts certainly did not go unnoticed as he remained sure and unflustered with the footy in hand the whole day. Congratulations on a great debut and to Loki Haines and club favourite Adam Curry who both showed the strong Noosa crowd that their senior selections weren't amiss.
Well done boys and hope a long senior career with the Noosa Tigers awaits.
As mentioned earlier a competition bye this weekend before another enthralling battle with arch rivals Maroochydore at Fishermans Rd the following weekend. Good luck to all Noosa junior teams this weekend and Go Tigers cheers Pittsy

The Rococo Bistro Noosa Reserves knew that Aspley would come to play and they have improved a lot in six weeks.
In the first quarter the score reflected that. With young Adam Curry getting a well-deserved promotion to our senior side this week, losing our centre half back Brad Forbes to a knee injury and Matty Grey as well last weeks line up had to change. Lachie Cameron did a great job on their main goal scorer keeping him to only two for the day.
The second quarter was much the same for 5 minute patches we got our game going. We knew if we kept pushing our systems we would run over the top of the Hornets. Sam Friend was exceptional down forward with plenty of help from Troy “Evil” Duke.
In the third quarter Jason Blamey marked everything! His improvement so far this season is great to watch. Dylan Murray down back is growing into a very consistent player while Jack Hendrie on the wing has it all – speed, skills, and as tough as they get.
Next week is the bye and then the game we have been waiting for when we get to have another crack at Maroochydore. We have a huge amount of respect for them it will be a ripper contest.
Cheers Danny.
