Andy has helped build the Lions as the 5th team in the league. Coached both the seniors and reserves, played and for us and the masters. Vice President organising the club off the field with new jumpers, polos, singlets, socks and shorts. The sponsorship and marketing for the club as well. Setting up and packing up the club on game days. Getting our training ground marked and new goal posts to give us a home ground.
In 2012 Andy was awarded the AFL Townsville Coach of the year, the Lions volunteer of the year, 2013 coached the defence force team prior to the NAB cup game and won the John Van Der Linden medal for the competition best player in the Nth Qld masters games.

◦ Captain duties at seven clubs (two civilian - Wodonga Raiders and Wanderers), Vice Captain at one (Townsville City Lions).
◦ Highlights:
▪ Meeting a range of great people and forming solid friendships.
▪ Started football training and a regular weekly competition between (two teams only) while Deployed on Operations in Bougainville. This was a front page on the Army Paper after I left the deployment and involved Peace Keeping personnel and locals of Bougainville - Loloho area, in training and playing. I still have a photo somewhere. We used a Mack truck air horn as the time keeping signal, Bamboo for goal posts that were painted white, etc. Even had the Army Band play Up their Cazaly and had this taped by Defence PR (1999).
▪ Played an exhibition game while Deployed in East Timor (2002/3) for the locals against another ADF contingent, also coached the team that won this game.
▪ Played in a range of finals and Grand Finals. The most memorable was winning the Grand Final in 2007 with two of my youngest brothers ( I have five younger brothers).
